Bapatla is a beautiful town and a culture-rich place in the state of Andhra Pradesh in southern India. The Bapatla mandal of the Bapatla revenue division is headquartered in this municipality. Talking of location, Bapatla is connected to all important places nearby. It is 17 kilometres from Chirala, 22 kilometres from Ponnur, 50 kilometres from Tenali, and 53 kilometres from Guntur, the four towns and cities nearest to it.

Earlier, the town was called by many other names like Bhavapattana, Bhavapuri, Bhavapattu, and Bhavapatta. All of the names came from the town’s Bhavanarayana Temple. The current name of Bapatla evolved from these earlier ones. It is believed that a Chola king called Krimikantha Chola built the temple in 1465, which was later repaired. 1. Edward Coronation Memorial Town Hall

This seaside community in Bapatla has a town hall on the road that goes to Suryalanka Beach. Built to celebrate Edward VII’s coronation as Emperor of India, the community Hall is still standing strong after 113 years, serving as both a focal point and a recreational space for the community. Without any help from the government or local money, the Hall was built using popular donations. On July 17, 1905, Broodie, the Collector of the Guntur district at the time, inaugurated the Edward Coronation Memorial Town Hall.
The inaugural Andhra Conference, which took place in the hall in 1913 and laid the groundwork for the campaign for linguistic states, was one of many significant events that the hall witnessed. It was the site of the 1913 First Andhra Provincial Conference when the need for an independent Telugu State was loudly voiced. As a centre for all things literary, cultural, and political, the property became the site of all major public gatherings. It has been visited and addressed by numerous Andhra leaders, including Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Babu Rajendra Prasad, Jayaprakash Narayan, Dange, and countless more. Beginning in 1896 at Bapatla, the Victoria Diamond Jubilee Club and the Newspaper Club were combined with the Town Hall in 1905.

2. Suryalanka Beach

Suryalanka Beach, nestled in the frothy Bay of Bengal, is a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Guntur town, which is approximately two hours away. Suryalanka Beach, also known as Bapatla Beach, is located in the Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh. It is around 50 miles south of Guntur City and about 9 kilometres from Bapatla Bhavanarayana Swamy Temple. Placing it in the Bay of Bengal is difficult. Numerous beachfront resorts dot the landscape.

One can enjoy visiting the beach and having good local food at the food stalls and restaurants by the shore. There are also a few resorts established on the resort, which you can book for a comfortable stay. The sunset is the most beautiful and ideal time to visit this place. 3. Chebrolu Village

Chebrolu is an iconic and archaeologically important village situated near Bapatla in the Guntur district. The Chebrolu mandal in the Tenali revenue division has its headquarters here. Chebrolu was the capital of the Kakatiya kingdom and a sacred location for Buddhists in the past. Buddhist artefacts from the Satavahana and Ikshvaku periods were unearthed during the archaeological digs. Tambrapuri was the name given to this village by the Satavahanas. The alternate name, Chattúrmukhapuram, means the city facing the four cardinal directions and was given by Raja Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu, a zamindar of Chintapalli.

In Chebrolu, there was a huge hoard of Satavahana coins. The coins depicted the two masts of a ship. An inscription by Jayapa, found on two pillars outside the Nageswara Temple’s Gopuram (1231 AD), details the relationship between the Hunas and the rulers of the South. King Pancola of Madra, King Hammira of Videha, King Huna, and King Kasi were all mentioned as being at his door.

4. Uppalapadu Bird Sanctuary

In Uppalapadu, close to Bapatla City in India, the Uppalapadu Bird Sanctuary is one of the most iconic natural places to visit. Village water tanks here are a nesting ground for migrating birds, including spot-billed pelicans, painted storks, and others that stop in from places like Siberia and Australia. Roughly 12,000 birds made their home in these tanks every year, but now there are only around 7,000.

A few things have been done, though, like putting in artificial trees, raising awareness in the community, and making sure the ponds get enough water, among other things. There may be more than 1500 pelicans living here. Along with these six pintail ducks, other birds seen included cormorants, common coots, common teals, black-headed ibises, two stilts, and five red-crested pochards. Despite not using them in the first several years, pelicans are now making use of the big wire mesh trees supplied by the Forest Department in 2009 to build their nests.

5. Bhavanarayana Temple

Bhavanarayana Temple is a major spiritual spot in Bapatla town of Bapatla district. The settlement of Bapatla was named after this temple, which is dedicated to Lord Bhavanarayana. One of the most important national monuments, the temple is under constant protection. It is believed that the Chola King Krimikantha Chola built the temple in 1265. Later on, the temple underwent various reconstructions and renovations.

The ancient temple of Bapatla Bhavanarayana Swamy is devoted to Venugopala Swamy. Thousands of devotees celebrate the festivals of Pavitrotsvam and Rathotsavam with great joy and show at this temple, which is currently in charge of the Archaeological Survey of India. The principal deity, Ksheera Bhavanarayana Swamy, and his spouse, Sundarvalli, are present and serve as revered signs for local communities.
