The Cenotaph is one of the most prominent buildings in the island city state of Singapore. It is a war memorial that is located at Connaught Drive, in the middle of Esplanade Park. this building was established to pay respect to the 124 British soldiers who lost their lives in WW1. The Governor of the Straits Settlements, Sir Lawrence Nunns Guillemard laid the foundation in the year 1920 and the construction took two years to complete.
