When the dam supplying water to the lake was washed away in the floods, it was reconstructed by Maharana Fateh Singh who reigned between 1884 AD and 1930 AD. After the visit of the Duke of Connaught, the Connaught Dam was built and the lake was renamed Fateh Sagar Lake.
