Yoga Practice: Attendees will have the opportunity to experience over 70 hours of Yoga classes from world-class teachers who practice multiple styles, including Kundalini Yoga, Power Vinyasa Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, and Kriya Yoga.

Workshops and Lectures: The festival will feature workshops on various aspects of Yoga from both Indian and international teachers. The workshops will cover traditional styles of Asanas, Pranayama, Meditation, Ayurveda, positive Yoga psychology, and more.

When you arrive at the International Yoga Festival, you must dress modestly and comfortably while respecting local customs. Light-coloured, breathable fabrics like cotton, linen, or khadi are recommended. Tight clothing, mini-skirts, and shorts are not allowed. Men can wear tunics, kurtas, or loose trousers, while women can opt for kurtas, tunics, or salwars. Traditional Indian attire is preferred for the Ganga Aarti, which can be purchased within the ashram.
To ensure proper etiquette and respect local culture, given below is a list of do’s and dont’s you must follow as closely as possible:

  • Footwear is not allowed inside the premises to respect the sanctity of the area, so leave your footwear in designated places
  • If you want to greet someone, fold your hands and say ‘Namaste.’ Avoid public display of affection.
  • Abstain from cursing, swearing and speaking very loudly as the event aims to harbour peace and brotherhood.
  • Non-vegetarian food and eggs are not allowed inside the ashram premises. Abstain from eating non-vegetarian food for the week.
  • Alcohol, tobacco and other intoxicants are strictly prohibited inside ashram premises. Avoid these intoxicants as this is the time for your body to detox and rejuvenate.
  • Use electronic devices minimally, as this is a time to connect to yourself, nature, and the people around you.
  • Bring a reusable bottle of water along so that you can stay hydrated.

How To Reach Rishikesh?

To reach Rishikesh by train, you will have to travel to Haridwar, which is around 25kms away from Rishikesh

By Flight: Rishikesh does not have an airport of its own. However, you can fly to the nearest airport in Dehradun if you want to visit it by flight. The closest airport to Rishikesh is Dehradun’s Jolly Grand Airport, 35 km away. From here, you can take a taxi or hop on a bus to reach Rishikesh and go to the International Yoga Festival.

By Train: To reach Rishikesh by train, you will have to travel to Haridwar, which is around 25kms away from Rishikesh and is well-connected to many of the major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Lucknow to name a few. While Rishikesh has its own railway station, there are only three slow trains which run on a daily basis. This is why the Haridwar railway station is a better approach.

By Road: Several buses connect Rishikesh from Delhi. Buses from other pilgrimage sites, such as Haridwar, also come here often enough. If you want to travel to Rishikesh from Delhi by bus, then check the morning and late evening buses, as they depart every day from Kashmir Gate ISBT. Buses range from regular to deluxe to luxury, and depending on your budget, you can choose accordingly.
