4. Akbar Tomb

Akbar’s tomb is the mausoleum of the third and greatest Mughal emperor Akbar. The tomb was built in 1605–1613 by his son, Jahangir and is situated on 119 acres of grounds in Sikandra, a suburb of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It houses the mortal remains of the Mughal Emperor Akbar, who, during his lifetime had completed the tomb and laid out a beautiful garden. However, his son, Jahangir, constructed the topmost portion of the mausoleum in marble. The shape of the tomb is pyramidal and consists of five storeys. After his death, his son Jahangir planned and completed the construction from 1605 – 1613. Later, during the rule of Aurangzeb, Akbar’s great-grandson, the tomb suffered significant losses.

5. Mehtab Bagh

Mehtab Bagh is a Charbagh complex in Agra, North India. It lies north of the Taj Mahal complex and the Agra Fort on the opposite side of the Yamuna River, in the flood plains. Mehtab Bagh is believed to be the site where he had planned to build a black marble mausoleum for himself, a veritable twin to the Taj Mahal – in exact alignment to his wife’s fabled mausoleum – until his ambitions were thwarted by his son, Aurangzeb, who imprisoned him till his death. Mehtab Bagh is a charbagh complex. Char translates as 4; bagh translates as a garden. Thus, it is a four-compartment garden design. This classic style of Mughal garden lies within a perfect square shape. When it was originally built, it is thought that the garden exhibited walkways, reflecting pools with fountains, and shaded pavilions nestled within trees, fragrant flowers and native shrubbery.

6. Keetham Lake (Sur Sarovar)

Sur Sarovar, often called Keetham Lake, is a picturesque lake off the Agra-Delhi national highway.
