    Near Pillalmarri is the Mahabubnagar Fort, situated initially in the Mahbubnagar district of the newly formed Telangana state. Originally called Dakshina Kashi, it was constructed in the 12th century during the rule of the Kakatiya dynasty’s Pratapa Rudra. The fort is about ten acres large and built on the top of a steep hill. It has seen many crucial historical events due to the shifts in the possession of the fort, where many rulers, such as the Kakatiyas, the Bahmanis, the Vijayanagara Empire, and the Golconda rulers, triumphed. The fort once had seven enormous gates, of which only one is still functional.

    Some structures still available in the fort complex include a pond, granary, armoury, royal stables, Mosque and others. Though many of the structures have been destroyed, there are still cannons, stone carvings and sculptures around the fort premises. The ASI stated the Mahabubnagar Fort as a historical monument listed under the ASI’s protective custody in 1922. It was greatly destroyed during the Muslim period but is still a remaining structure of Kakatiya Malkapuram architectural style and is a prominent tourist attraction centre in Mahabubnagar.

    Peerla Marri Lake is an ancient tank constructed by the ancient engineers of that area located at Mahabubnagar of Telangana. It is 1.5 sq km in size and is considered one of the country’s oldest and biggest artificial lakes. The water in the lake comes from natural springs and can be approximately equal to the lake’s volume. And at the nearby lake, there is a temple of Lord Shiva, built in the 7th century AD. The lake has historical importance; it was the freshwater source for Bahamani kings. Nomadic civilizations, from as early as the 1600s, were drawn towards this lake.

    Among the oldest mosques in India is that in Hyderabad, Telangana, called Mecca Masjid near Pillalmarri. Constructed in 1614 A.D. under the rule of Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah, it is said that the construction of this monument took almost eight decades to complete. Mecca Masjid owes its name to the bricks required for constructing the central arch, which was imported from Mecca. It has a remarkable ability to host 10,000 congregants at a single time.     One of the religious places near Pillalamarri is the Srirangapur Temple, which is located in Srirangapur village in the Medak district of the state Telangana. It was built during the Kakatiya reign in the 13th century and is listed as a heritage structure. The main deity of worship at the temple is Lord Ranganatha, an incarnate of Lord Vishnu who rests on the coils of the mythical serpent Adisesha. This is a temple built of stones, which has very delicate carvings and an elevated floor with excellent pillars.
