    Lower Steletar is a reservoir lying in the northern region of Singapore and eastern area of Yishun. This reservoir covers an area of 3.6 square kilometer and has 9.5 million m³ of capacity. The average depth of this reservoir is 2 meters, maximum is 5.5 meters while the length of shoreline is 14.3 kilometers. This reservoir is a sight to behold and the perfect spot for planning your picnics at.

    This reservoir is believed to have some historical significance as well. It was built under the administration of Sungei Seletar/Bedok Water Scheme. The construction was completed in the year 1986. According to this scheme, in order to build this reservoir, damming of Sungei Seletar was to be done.

    The most exclusive characteristic of this reservoir was considered to be the creation of 9 stormwater collection stations from where storm runoffs from the surrounding catchments were tapped. Amongst them, 8 are seen as ponds in Tampines, Yan Kit, Bedok, and Yishun. The Public Utilities Board allowed for sailing in this reservoir in the year 2004. This initiative was taken by keeping Seletar Country Club and Singapore Sports Council in collaboration.

    On your visit to this place, you will also find Lower Seletar Reservoir Park that is located at the northern shore of the reservoir. This park is ideal for strolling in the evening or jogging in the morning hours. You can even stop and sit on the benches that have been installed at the edges of the reservoir. Moreover, there are restrooms, shelter, and jetty in this park with jogging track that is 1.3 kilometers long.
