Rajul took a family vacation to Sikkim, Gangtok, & Darjeeling and elaborates on their refreshing experience in the mountains. He booked his family tour package from TravelTriangle and it included their hotel, transfers, meals, and sightseeing – all for a cost of INR 67,000. Let us read his story.

Ever since one of my colleagues had described his beautiful holiday experience in Sikkim-Gangtok-Darjeeling, I had always wanted to go there with my family. And now with luck and time in our hands, I was finally able to plan my holiday and visit the famous hill stations that are so talked about.

Wanting our trip to be a customized one, I started searching for travel companies that would cater to my requirement. And it was here on Google only that I found TravelTriangle. I raised a request like I had done with others and soon received a quote for my trip. Finding the quote to be favorable, I further customized my package and a few more quotes and itineraries later, finalized it.

We were now all set for the perfect family vacation!

Day 1: Allahabad to Guwahati

Boating on Bramhaputra river Guwahati

We had taken a train from Allahabad to Guwahati and the journey was a good one. It was 8pm by the time we reached Guwahati and as promised by the agent, the driver was already waiting for us for our transfer to the hotel.

Our hotel in Guwahati was a nice one and after we had checked in, we had our dinner and called it a night.

Rajul and his family at the Kamakhya Temple Guwahati

We did a lot of sightseeing today. Our morning started with a visit to the Kamkhya Temple which was a great spiritual experience and it was followed by other interesting places like science museum, zoo (which was unfortunately closed), mall, and the local markets. Everything about Guwahati was delightful and we enjoyed every single place that we visited.

So after a day full of sightseeing, our driver in the night dropped us to the New Jal Paudi railway station for our train to Gangtok. We boarded the train at 10pm and the rest of the night was spent in the journey.

Day 3: Sightseeing in Gangtok

Rajul at the Tsomgo Lake

In the morning after breakfast today, we set off for sightseeing that was included in our package. Our first stop was Baba Mandir which was a serene and nice experience. Next was the Nathu la pass but we decided to skip it since everyone was feeling pukish.

One good thing that we encountered on our journey was the weather was really nice since there was constant drizzle and fog. Later on when we were back in Gangtok, we proceeded on to visit a few more places and local markets on our own.

In the night, we returned to our hotel, had dinner, and then called it a night.

Day 4: Exploring the gems of Gangtok

Waterfall in Gangtok

This was again a day we were spending in the beautiful hill station of Gangtok and at around 9 in the morning we set off for sightseeing as usual. Our first stop was the Rock Garden and it was followed by a visit to the waterfalls. We also visited Ganesh and Hanuman temple which was followed by a monastery. All of these spiritual experiences were peaceful and we loved our time spent here.

Our itinerary also included a ride on the ropeway which gave us excellent views of the city. In the evening, we returned to our hotel and spent the rest of our time relaxing here only.

Day 5: Hello Darjeeling

Clouds over mountains

This morning after we were done with an early breakfast, we began our road trip to Darjeeling. It was 9am and by the time we reached Darjeeling, it was 2:30. Our hotel booked here was nice and had a great view of the city. In the evening we around on our own and checked out the local markets. Post this, we returned to our hotel and relaxed.

Day 7: More sightseeing on our last day

Batasia loop in Darjeeling

This was our last day and also perhaps the most eventful one. We began our morning with a beautiful sunrise view from the Tiger Hills and then later on returned to our hotel for breakfast. Later on, after we had gotten ready, we went out to take a ride in the toy train and boy it was a wonderful experience. Next on our list was the Sea Garden which was once again a fascinating place. Post this we went to the ropeway and saw the whole panoramic view of the hill station from literally the clouds. It was a wonderful experience and we were truly mesmerized by the beauty of the mountains.
