Then simply lay on a towel and revel in the scenery before you! You can also take a walk on the fine sand of the beach to explore the area.

You can find beach lounge chairs on rent close to the beach if you do not want to sit on a towel when picnicking!

Silent Beach Tangalle is not an ideal beach for swimming because of the strong waves that are often seen there. It is not recommended for children. If you are a strong swimmer, you can swim on the beach, but you must make sure you do not venture too much into the waters, as they get deep rather quickly. It is best if you go to the eastern point for swimming. This is situated right before you encounter the big rocks on the beach.

If you want to get the best out of visiting this beach along with the others on Sri Lanka’s South Coast, the best time is from late November to the end of April. If we had to choose between the best months, they would be January and February as the climate is pleasant and travelling is fun rather than tiring. Even though you can visit the beach throughout the year, you should avoid the monsoon period around September and October. Rainfall can hamper your travel plans.

How To Reach Silent Beach Tangalle

You can reach the Beach by bus, train, or cab

  • Bus: The easiest and cheapest way to reach Silent Beach is to use public transport. Sri Lanka’s bus service connects all major towns and cities. The beach is just 4.3 km away From Tangalle Bus Stand.
  • Train: You can take the train to Matara Railway Station and then hire a tuk-tuk or a cab to reach Silent Beach Tangalle, which is 44.3 km away.
  • Cab: If hiring a cab, you can use the Colombo-Galle-Hambantota Highway route to reach Tangalle. The Silent Beach is just 3.8 km away from Tangalle.

Tips For Visiting Silent Beach Tangalle

  • Apply plenty of sunscreen before you venture onto the beach, as the afternoons can get quite sunny, and the sun’s rays can cause skin burns.
  • If you are going to hire a tuk-tuk, make sure you negotiate because they will quote a very high price in the beginning.
  • Always keep your belongings with you. Even though you seldom see anyone there, keeping your things close to you is best to avoid theft.
  • Do not throw trash on the beach. Instead, take it back with you and throw it in your hotel’s dustbin.
  • Many dogs roam the beach area. It is best not to pet them, as they are strays.
