It is believed that this pond is about 150 years old, and there is never any shortage of water. Another interesting thing about this pond is that it was once the summer capital of the Scindia state. When it rains, water seeps through the rocks and forms waterfalls. The water of the spring falls from the top of a temple and accumulates in the pond.
There is an interesting story related to this pond. Once, a couple in love performed rigorous penance here, after which they were blessed that the love of the couple bathing in this pond would last forever. It is said about the pond that if both of them take a bath here, the quarrel between husband and wife gets resolved within minutes, and the distances disappear.

Situated on the northern edge of India’s Central Highlands, the Madhav National Park encompasses a portion of the Upper Vindhyan Hills, intermingled with plateaus and valley sections. The slopes are rarely steep; they are usually moderate. Madhav National Park, which spans about 355 square kilometres, is a remarkable fusion of historical natural beauties and architectural marvels. It is located in the Shivpuri District of northern Madhya Pradesh, not far from the Shivpuri metropolis. In 1958, it was designated a National Park.
The habitats in the park’s lakes, meadows, and forests are unique. The two lakes in the southern portion of the park, Sakhya Sagar and Madhav Sagar, offer aquatic biodiversity and are a vital water source for terrestrial animals. These lakes enhance the area’s natural beauty and give wildlife, particularly thousands of migratory waterfowl, a reliable water supply and a lovely wetland habitat. Sakhya Sagar Lake has an abundance of marsh crocodiles. As a result, the lake has a “Crocodile Safari” appearance and draws a lot of interest from travellers. The Madikheda Dam is located in the park’s northwest corner.

A chhatri is “a domed kiosk supported on pillars.” In Humayun’s Garden Tomb, there are three places where you can find Chhatris. Two chhatris, in the ideal location for two watchtowers, are on top of the facade of the West Gate. As visitors approach the garden tomb, they are greeted by the chhatris. On top of the Barber’s Tomb, there are four blue-domed chhatris, one at each corner.
Eight blue-domed chhatris, one on each pishtaq, can be seen in Humayun’s Tomb. On the roof, just above the auxiliary chambers, are four larger chhatris. Every one of the chhatris atop Humayun’s Tomb is a working pavilion. There are staircases inside the roof pavilions at the summit of each pishtaq that lead to the blue-domed chhatris.

Madhav Vilas Palace, often referred to by the locals as the “Palace,” epitomises magnificence. Even by today’s standards, the palace is hugely magnificent with its many terraces, exquisite turrets, and flawless marble flooring. The dusty-rose colour of the palace’s facade distinguishes it from the surroundings. The palace is more relevant than palaces from bygone ages because of its colonial construction. The Scindias’ summer mansion was at its height of glory. Thanks to the Madhav National Park’s maintenance, the vistas from the turrets and terraces have remained unchanged since then.
Just a paintbrush away is the picture of the ladies of the royal family waiting for the Prince to return from a strenuous hunting day on the terraces. Today, the palace serves as the Government of India’s Intelligence Bureau’s training centre — a somewhat less romantic function for the royal family’s former summer residence.
