    Chitlang is a beautiful, lush, green village that lies 27 km from the capital city of Kathmandu.     History Of Chitlang

    Located in the ancient Newari settlement, Chitlang village has quite a fascinating history. Chitlang history includes inscriptions dating back to the Lichchavi era (which lasted 400 to 750 CE) found in Ganeshan village. The inscriptions contained precious information about Licchavi king Udayev, including information about his coronation and proof that he was crowned king.

    There are several historical sites, one of them being the Shikhar Dham. The Shiva temple is thought to have been constructed from 1200 to 1769 CE. Chitlang hosts multiple cultures, such as the Tamang, Nuvar, and Brahmin cultures. Various festivals and Patras are celebrated throughout the year. The Patan culture is still prevalent here, as it was once under the rule of Lalitpur Patan.

    2. Chitwan National Park

    The park is a haven for birdwatchers and has much to offer ornithologists or birders. 544 species of birds have been recorded at this park. With its proximity to dense forests and its serene outdoors that have not been touched by human development, it is paradise to those who enjoy bird watching. Some of the most commonly seen species of the bird Kingdom are the bright Himalayan monal, the charged blue jay bird, the Nepal wren windbag, the tree sparrow, the black-breasted sunbird, the Nepal sunbird and the grey wagtail.     How To Reach Chitlang In Nepal

    Cable Car: To get to Chitlang, one can take a cable car from Kathmandu, the capital city. This cable car can transport travellers and visitors to the ridge’s top, reducing the hike considerably. The view from the cable car is worth taking in.

    Buses and Smaller Vehicles: These vehicles leave Kathmandu and reach Taukhel near Chitlang via a place called Kulekhani. Buses are available from Hetauda, which go right up to Chitlang to Kulekhani and leave for Hetauda early in the morning. Above Thankot is a settlement called Godam, from where tourists can get a ride in a pick-up vehicle that transports them to Chitlang. These vehicles are usually available in the morning and can be travelled via the Chandragiri pass. This is the shortest route and gets one there in about an hour.

    Walking: Chitlang is an easy one-hour walk from Taukhel for those who enjoy a good trek. Many tourists choose this option because it provides them with exercise and the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
