When planning to double the railway track between Chennai and Howrah, the Indian Railways thought of building a track connecting Kovvur and Rajahmundry, covering 3.1 kilometres of the holy Godavari River. In 1964, when the construction of the second bridge was sanctioned by the South Central Railway, the locals of Kovvur and Rajahmundry demanded a road bridge to connect the districts of East and West Godavari. The government of Andhra Pradesh came up with a proposal for building a road bridge, which was approved and opened to the public in 2015.

The Mandap has 72 pillars made up of black stones. The temple has dedicated altars, you can find the altars of Gokaneswar and Ganesha on the left, the altars of Kartikeya and Vishnu are on the right and Vishnu is placed at the center.
