Sikkim is a tiny but gorgeous Himalayan state tucked away in the North-eastern part of India. From the frozen lakes in the North, the tea plantations in the West, and the mighty Kanchendzonga ranges looming throughout, Sikkim is a land of life and love. North Sikkim is one of the highest places in the world and is sparsely inhabited. Amongst the last villages on the India side of the mountains is Lachung. A literal escape from the world and only 25 km from the famous Yumthang valley, there are several specialized resorts in Lachung where you can spend your perfect Sikkim retreat.
5 Resorts In Lachung
From budget to luxury, we have got all kinds of options to match your pocket. Scroll down and take your pick!
1. Yarlam Resort
While many travelers pass through Lachung on their way to Yumthang Valley of rhododendron flowers, Yarlam can offer an excuse for you to stay in Lachung a little bit longer. One of the few resorts in Lachung, the place offers great food and hot water (a luxury here) and laundry services too. Most importantly, the rooms are gorgeous and have the best view of the mountain that looms over Lachung. Lachung is situated right in the mountains and has no running water or any other things we take for granted in Gangtok or elsewhere. Considering that, the Yarlam Resort, Lachung, Sikkim does very well in providing its guests a comfortable stay.
2. Snow Lion Mountain Resort, Lachung
The Snow Lion Mountain Resort Lachung is another gorgeous place to stay in Lachung. Noted for the extra polite and helpful services of the host, the place is one of the best Lachung resorts. There is internet connectivity which is a blessing in these remote parts, and there is good food at the restaurant. At night, you can sit outside under thousands of stars, something that we never see in the cities. Because the place is so quiet, you can hear the sound of the Lachung river flowing nearby. This is, hands down, one of the best resorts in Lachung.

3. The Fortuna Resort
The Fortuna Resort Lachung has the best location in the entire village. If you take the rooms on the front side of the building (which you can, because these places are usually empty), you will have the naked brown mountain and the Lachung river on one side, and the mountains of the valley on the other side. The food is basic but good, and travelers have found some unexpected familiarity here. The staff running the place are extremely friendly and accommodating and make sure you have enough blankets in the room to beat the cold. It’s one of the most unpretentious Lachung resorts and a place to stay for travelers on their way to the Yumthang Valley.
4. Summit Alpine Resort
The Summit Alpine Resort is a great place to stay on a budget. Located right next to this small settlement, it is often preferred by travelers who want to stay the night at Lachung before resuming their trip to Yumthang. While the facilities are fairly basic, the hosts take care of food, hot water, and blankets for you. The best part of the Iceland Resort is the extraordinary views it offers. We recommend that you wake up early to watch the sun rise behind the huge mountain that looms over Lachung. Also, the friendly staff can serve you Sikkim cuisine if you can talk them into it, and that is a great experience for the trip.
5. Dikiling Resort
The Dikiling Resort Lachung is an initiative of the local governing body called the DZUMSA. Located bang opposite the Lachung monastery, a stay here is a great way to know more about the local customs and way of life. The rooms at the resort have all kinds of basic facilities, including hot and cold running water, and an on-call doctor. The Dikling Resort is one of the new resorts in Lachung and the rooms are pretty with wooden floors and wooden frames for beds. The staff is attentive and courteous.
