Legends of Shaktipeethas
The most famous legends of Shaktipeetha started with the death of Sati, the incarnations of Adi Shakti, and the first wife of Lord Shiva. After the self-immolation of Sati, out of grief and sorrow, the Lord Shiva carried Sati’s body and performed the Tandava, the celestial dance of destruction, across the universe. The dance caused colossal destruction, and the Gods approached Lord Vishnu to intervene. Lord Vishnu cut through Sati’s corpse using his Sudarshan Chakra.
