Day 1: Namma Bengaluru!
We boarded our flight from Maldives and reached Bangalore in the afternoon. After we reached, we first visited the Tipu Sultan palace, the summer residence of Tipu Sultan, one of the most celebrated rulers of South India. It is a perfect example of Indo-Islamic architecture.
We stayed there for some hours and clicked a lot of pictures. Post that we visited the famous shiv temple before leaving for Mysore. It was a two hour drive from Bangalore and we reached Mysore around 8 pm. After we reached, we checked into our hotel.
My husband had planned for a proper candle light dinner and had even instructed the staff to decorate our room, but to our dismay, it couldn’t happen as there was miscommunication of information. We had dinner at one of the restaurants and retired to our room for the night.
Hotel Review: The Quorum
The ambience of the hotel is very nice and the rooms are pretty decent too. The staff is, however, not as cooperative as one would expect it to be. The food is also alright, nothing out of the world.
Our Rating: 2.5/5
Day 2: The Great City Of Mysore
It is said that Mysore as a city, was the favorite of all the kings. In today’s times, Mysore leads by example as a destination that blends in itself both modern and traditional ways of life and architecture. Once you’ve seen Mysore, you will understand its grandeur magnificence.
We had an early morning breakfast and left for Mysore sightseeing. We first visited the Mysore palace, the official residence of the Wodeyars, the rulers of Mysore. Post that we visited the Mysore garden, a beautiful garden ideal for walking and relaxing for sometime.
After that it was time to visit Ooty, one of the most beautiful hill stations in South India. We reached late in night and had dinner in our hotel, The Elk. The hotel was very nice and reminded me of those little cottages we had pictures of, in our school textbooks. Tired from all the traveling, we came to our room post dinner and called it a night.
Day 3: Journey To The ‘Queen of Hills’
Day 3 was reserved for sightseeing in Ooty. We covered Doddabetta Peak, the highest mountain in the Nilgiri Hills. The views of the valley were mesmerising indeed. We had a spa appointment in our hotel at 5 pm. Due to some technical problems, our spa appointment was postponed to 8 pm. It was a very relaxing experience and the staff was very experienced and made sure that we had a good time.
Post spa, we went to have dinner at the hotel’s restaurant and by the time we came back to our room, it was fully decorated with rose petals and candles. There were pastries and fruits kept for us, beautifully, decorated. After enjoying for sometime, we retired to bed as we had to leave for Coimbatore early the next day.
Hotel Review: Elk Hill
The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff goes out of the way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The food is pretty decent, and the spa services are also really good, provided there are no power cuts.
Our Rating: 4/5
Day 4: Bidding Adieu To The Queen Of Hills
We had an early breakfast and left for Coimbatore. I must talk about our driver here. He was a wonderful fellow who not only drove carefully, but also helped us a lot in shopping. He took us to the best places to shop in Coimbatore and drove us to the airport on time, from where we boarded our flight back to Hyderabad.
I thought that after Maldives, South India would be nothing out of the world experience but I was so wrong. There is a different kind of charm to the hills, the people and the climate of South India. In short, I am very glad that we chose it as our honeymoon destination. Kudos to TravelTriangle for helping us plan this beautiful trip without any hassles.
- The Elk hotel at Ooty was a great stay experience. The candle decoration done by the staff in our room was heart warming!
- Mysore is a beautiful city and should be a part of every travel list of places to visit in South India. One must visit the Mysore Palace and Mysore Garden.
- The hotel experience at Mysore was not that great. One is advised to look for other accommodation options in the same budget to get a good stay experience.
