This spectacular monument was erected to commemorate the country’s transformation from an absolute monarchy to constitutional rule. Democracy monument was designed by the famous architect Mew Aphaiwong. The 75 cannon balls that surround the base signify the importance of the year AD 1932 – Buddhist era. The 4 wings of this magnificent monument are 24-meter tall and represent 24th June – the very day the country’s constitutions was inked. The central plinth that is about 3-meter high stands for June – which was then the third month on the Thai Calendar. You will see bas-reliefs that depict police, soldiers, and civilians who were instrumental in ushering in the Modern Thai of today. 4. Wat Pho

Wat Pho is one of the most oldest Thailand monuments temples. This temple is famous for its giant reclining Buddha that is said to be over 150 feet long. This giant sculpture of Lord Buddha is a sight to behold. It is covered entirely in gold, and has the 108 signs of Buddha inlaid with pearls. The grounds of Wat Pho houses over 1000 images of Buddha. According to historians, many of these have been brought in from the ruins in the ancient capitals of Sukhothai and Ayutthaya. This is one of the most well-known Thailand landmarks that is dedicated to the 3 Northern Lao Kings who are said to have been the founders of the city of Chiang Mai. This is where the King’s birthday celebrations take place every year in early December. The monument constitutes the statues of the famous King Mengrai of Chiang Mai and his two dear friends King Ngam Muang of Payao and King Ramkhamhaeng of Sukhothai. It is said that these fast friends worked in unison to build the city. You will see 3 bronze statues of these kinds in their 14th century ensembles when you enter the attraction. The square in the front of the monument serves as a venue for several Thai festivals. The square also has a number of restaurants that serve yummy western food.
