About Singapore Cable Car
Established on 15 February 1974, Singapore Cable Car was the world’s first aerial ropeway system to pass above a harbor. Before this, there have been a few others that spanned the sea including Awashima Kaijō Ropeway of Japan, built in 1964. It passes above a short straight to an island. The average time taken is 15 minutes and has the capacity to carry around 2000 passengers at a time.
