The forest is also a habitat for the Palmer’s Chipmunk, an exclusive species of the Spring Mountains. 2. Potosi Mountain
Located in the southwest part of Las Vegas, Mount Potosi is another high mountain peak in the Spring Mountain Range. With rugged cliffs and complex ridges, Potosi Mountains has a beauty of their own. The topography of the mountains is extremely interesting with limestone cliffs surrounding this mountain peak on three sides. There are also a number of mines along the slope of the mountain and there are quite a few shelter caves in the mountain. Black Mountain in Las Vegas is a very prominent one in the McCullough Range and it is also a landmark mountain in the Vegas Valley. The Black Mountains offer hiking opportunities for the visitors. The Black Mountain trail is a short 6.8 mile trail that gives you the chance to see many wildlife. Hiking in this trail is suitable in the months of September to May, the best time for taking nature trips. 4. Frenchman Mountains

5. Muddy Mountains
Muddy Mountains are the largest mountain range in the Clark County region. Just an hour drive from Las Vegas, the Muddy Mountains wilderness is a great place to explore the unbridled nature of the Nevada region. The mountain offers an expansive view of the Lake Mead. The mountains are rich in minerals and is composed of different types of rocks. The water action has carved a nice 600 foot canyon in these mountains. From the summit of the mountain, you can see some of the most stunning views of the Mojave Desert.
