A serial entrepreneur, avid traveler, and an explorer, Keshav describes his phenomenal honeymoon trip to Seychelles. Calling the destination a paradise, he elaborates on their highlights which included renting bicycles to explore, snorkeling in the Indian Ocean, enjoying the local cuisine, and exploring islands in a rented car.
His Seychelles Honeymoon tour package included flights, transfers, and hotels and you too can book a similar trip for a fantastic holiday with your partner.
This was our honeymoon trip and true to its fame, Seychelles turned out to be a paradise. Although we were also looking at Fiji and Giethoorn as our possible honeymoon destinations, we ultimately chose Seychelles since it offered us a perfect blend of nature, water activities, and exploring options.
Our Seychelles honeymoon tour package was booked via TravelTriangle (found via Facebook ad) and the whole process of booking was an easy one. Upon raising a request on their website, I was connected to various travel agents who sent us quotes and itineraries as per our requirements. We selected the best one from Amico Holidays and were now ready for our special trip to take place.
Day 1: Seychelles, the tropical paradise
Honeymoon In Seychelles: An Affair To Remember In 2022!
We flew from Delhi to Mumbai for our flight to Mahe (capital island of Seychelles). The flight from Mumbai to Mahe was of 4 hours and upon our arrival at the airport, we were welcomed by a representative from our travel agent’s side.
The representative provided us with boarding passes for the Cat Cocos Ferry that would transfer us to Praslin (second largest island of Seychelles) where our resort was situated.
The ferry ride from Mahe to Praslin was very good and extremely enjoyable. We reached Praslin in 45 mins and upon our arrival at the port, were once again picked up by another representative who transferred us to our resort.
Thankfully, both mine and TravelTriangle’s agents hard work paid off regarding the resort since it turned out to be an excellent property.
Later post welcome drinks and check in, we relaxed for a while and then explored the hotel on our own for the rest of the day.
Day 2: The incredible Anse Lazio beach visit and more!
This day after spending some leisure time at the beach resort and exploring its nearby area, we proceeded for Anse Lazio, one of the most famous beaches in Praslin. This beach visit was complimentary from the hotel side and we had a great time in its crystal clear waters and white sand. We even saw the very rare Aldabra Giant Tortoise on this beach and it was truly fascinating to witness this large gentle creature.
Post this, we indulged in local Creole food from the beach shack there and also tasted the local drink of Seychelles – “SeyBrew”, which was delicious.
Next we decided to return to our resort and in the evening, ventured out to explore the nearby village as the weather was predicted to be humid throughout the day.
As decided, we boarded a bus to the nearby village and it cost us SCR 5/- per person which is equivalent to Rs. 28/- in India.
Another interesting thing that we noticed was that the normal working hours in Seychelles are from 8:30am to 4:30pm with offs on weekends (WOW!) I wish we could have the same in India too but alas!
Although most of the shops and local markets were closed by the time we reached the village, it was still nice exploring it on our own and interacting with the locals. Later, we found a Indian restaurant and enjoyed a Margarita Pizza with a desi touch.
Post this, we returned to our resort and had a great time talking under the moonlight at the beach deck in the resort.
Day 3: Exploring the small island village of La Digue
Seychelles Island: All You Need To Know About This Gem Of The Indian Ocean
This was a memorable day for us since we visited the “La-Digue” today. A very small island village with population of just few thousand people.
We reached La-digue at around 10 AM local time by a ferry from Praslin (15 minute ride). Upon our arrival here, we rented bicycles, got an island map, and began exploring the island on our own.
La-digue is a peaceful and laid back island, full of nature, beautiful beaches with neat and clean surroundings. We spent our full day here and tried to explore as much as we could before time ran out.
Day 4: Exploring Praslin on our own
We rented a car today and decided to explore around on our own. Since the car was an automatic drive and there wasn’t any requirement for an international license, getting one was an easy affair.
We took a Hyundai i10 and it cost us 50 Euros per day. The roads were very good and there wasn’t much traffic either. Praslin on 4 wheels looked exciting and we wanted to explore the most of it
25 Places To Visit In Seychelles: Islands, Beaches, & Tourist Attractions
We visited local villages, shops, and even tried authentic Creole Cuisine. The people were very helpful & polite and guided us well throughout the journey.
We visited Anse Lazio beach again and relaxed in the sun. The water here was crystal clear and we could even sea the surface of the ocean. There was also a small domestic airport in Praslin where one could see small planes taking off and landing from the same road where normal traffic moves.
It was very interesting post which we came back to our resort.
Day 5: Staying at one of the best resorts of Mahe – Avani Barbarons
This day, we checked out of our resort and bid farewell to the beautiful island of Praslin for we were to go to our next destination – Mahe.
Post breakfast, we took a ferry from Praslin at 3:15 pm and reached the Mahe port at around 4 pm. From there our tour guide escorted us to the resort – Avani Barbarons, where we completed all our formalities and checked in.
The rest of the day we spent enjoying the facilities of the property and enjoying the beautiful sunset on the private beach of the resort.
Day 6: Exploring Mahe Island and Eden Island on our own!
We again rented a car today but this time it was a bit more expensive than Praslin. We paid 125 Euros for 2.5 days (after bargaining) and in the end, were happy to get a good deal.
Mahe was a little bit more crowded than Praslin since it is the capital and consists of all the government and private offices.
So, we took a map from the tour guide and started our road journey. The map was an old one but in the end we managed.
We first visited the Tea Factory of Mahe, a place where tea is planted and produced at a very large scale. We also got a chance to explore the factory and see the actual tea making process. Seychelles’s specialty is Vanilla Tea and apart from this, they also grow a lot of Vanilla here and we could see its plantations everywhere.
25 Places To Visit In Seychelles: Islands, Beaches, & Tourist Attractions
Post this, we drove all the way down towards Victoria. Victoria is a very small city or we could say a town and is well planned with all major offices, banks, and government institutions. There were also few restaurants where had our food. Later on, we shopped at the local flea market for supplies and souvenirs.
In the evening, we visited Eden Island – an artificial/man-made island which looked like a residential complex that housed a shopping mall inside. There were very beautiful apartments here. There was one Indian restaurant by the name of “Maharaja’s” where we enjoyed Indian food on the beachside.
At around 7 PM we returned to our resort since it is the closing time for shops and everything in general. The forest roads were very dark but it was a really fun and adventurous drive for us especially since there was no traffic.
Both the islands are quite safe and one can go anywhere they want, but in the night there is nothing open. Hence it is safe to assume that unlike Goa, there is very little nightlife here. But if one wants to enjoy the nightlife, they can visit Mahe which has a few pubs open till late night from Wednesday to Saturday.
Day 7: Beach hopping, island hopping, and snorkeling experience!
We woke up early in the morning and enjoyed the sunrise at our resort’s private beach and later proceeded on for breakfast. Next, we got back in our car to visit the beaches. At one of the beaches, we booked ourselves an island hopping and snorkeling trip on a private boat. It cost us around 110 Euros but was totally worth it.
This private boat was actually a “Glass Bottom Boat” and we could see everything from the boat’s flooring. The person then took us to the middle of the Indian Ocean and provided us all the equipment for snorkeling. Since we were new to snorkeling and also did not know swimming, we panicked when we first went into the water. Seeing us in a situation like this, the instructor suggested us to try the shallow waters and we did.
He took us to a remote Island where there was nobody except us and then again asked us to snorkel. This time, we were able to do it and had a great time. It was a “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” kind of experience and we could see hundreds of colorful small and big fishes very near to us. We could even touch them but they swam away quickly.
Our 2 hour snorkeling experience was worth it and we loved witnessing the marine life. It was indeed one of the best days of our trip. Next we came back to the shore and indulged in some nice sea food.
Day 8: The hardest farewell
Mauritius Vs Maldives Vs Seychelles Infographic: Which Is Your Ideal Holiday Paradise?
This was our last day and we were sad to leave the country. We woke up early in the morning, had breakfast, and then went out exploring so as to make the most of our time left.
We took out our car again and decided to follow the opposite route today and go to Victoria side again. We left at around 12:00 pm and started exploring the hidden beaches, although there was nothing hidden since the whole island had many beaches. We went to Beau Vallon Beach, enjoyed our lunch there, and relaxed for sometime. Post this, we headed towards Victoria again to do some city photography and get some souvenirs for friends and family.
At around 4:30PM we decided to get back to the resort and enjoy the sunset till our pick-up van arrived for the airport. Later at 7, our pick-up van came and we with a very heavy heart bid farewell to the beautiful island nation. We reached airport at around 7:45PM and finally boarded our flight at 9:55PM to Mumbai.
Seychelles was a refreshingly delightful experience for us. It offered us complete privacy and also the freedom to go wherever we wanted. It was almost as if we were discovering each other as we explored the country. For us, Seychelles offered a perfectly sunny and happy background for a fresh start in our lives.
High Points:
- Bicycle Safari at La-Digue Island
- Snorkeling in the middle of Indian Ocean & near the human-less island
- Driving on the beautiful roads of the paradise with your loved one
- Enjoying very beautiful and crystal clear beaches
Low Points:
- Overall, no negative experiences. But this place is not for party animals or those looking for an active nightlife experience!
- Food is something which could be a problem for vegetarians or who do not like hardcore sea food or hard meat. Also, food/meals are a little bit expensive here.
Tips for travelers:
- Planning is very important for any trip if you want it organized. It’s not only about booking tickets and stays, one should also make a to-do list by doing some research on internet for how you want to spend each day at the island. This helps utilize all of your days properly resulting in a memorable experience.
- Choose your travel destination according to your taste, take help from experts and listen to their advices. But I would also suggest to do a lot of self research too. It really helps to know about your destination and you will be able to explore more out of it.
Seychelles offers a delightful tropical experience to all honeymooners! A perfect blend of nature and fun, you too can experience all its charm by booking a package here!
