I have always been a trekking enthusiast and found the rugged mountain peaks that would help me satiate the thirst for adventure. However, this time I was looking for a leisure and relaxing vacation to enjoy my time off. Being a nature admirer, I thought what other place than the land of natural wonders itself and hence planned this escape. This was truly the decision that I do not regret making. The temperature usually hovered around 6 degrees Celsius to 9 degrees Celsius in Gangtok. As we went further up, towards Yumthung, the temperature dropped even more. Our Favorite Places To Visit In Gangtok
On this vacation, we got a chance to witness some extremely beautiful Gangtok tourist attractions that we never thought we would be able to witness. Find below a few of our favorite places and the experiences we had on our Sikkimese excursion in December!
1. Seven Sisters Water Falls
Although seven sister waterfalls were just a stopover on the first day of our 4 days in Gangtok, we got to experience something extremely breathtaking. Being the winter season, the waterfalls were not as gushing and were dry, However, the falls exhibited some stunning views of Mount Kanchenjunga that was too good a view. To view this sight up close was truly a blessing as this is the third highest mountain range in the world and is extremely beautiful.
2. Yumthang Valley
We stopped at Yumthan Valley only for a bit on our way to and back from Zero Point. Although we couldn’t really do anything due to the fog, we still managed to get some postcard pictures of the milestones. The best experience we had here was indulging in some mouth-watering ‘pahadon ki maggie’ at such low temperatures. Nothing can beat a hot bowl of ramen with friends in the chilly weather!

3. Zero Point
Zero Point was definitely one of our favorite places during these 4 days in Gangtok. We had heard that snowfall in Gangtok is rare but there are certain points that will always witness snow, with Zero Point being one of them. The panoramic views of stunning snow-capped mountains were definitely something that we will cherish throughout our life.
4. Nathula Pass
Being an army kid, I was always fascinated with the stories about the 7th mile where my father worked. This time, we finally had a chance to witness it up close and we definitely got goosebumps. Reaching the Indo-China border and witnessing all the army men on duty truly made my hair raise. Since it an army area, we weren’t allowed to click pictures. But the experience was really special. On our way back from there, we took a little detour and went on to visit the statue of Lord Shiva.

How To Reach Gangtok
For our Gangtok trip from Hyderabad, the best option that we narrowed down to was taking a flight from Hyderabad till Kolkata as there are no direct flights to reach Gangtok.
