We reached our homestay in Bir Billing at about 12 noon and freshened up. Post a hearty lunch, we started trekking to our campsite uphill which took us 2 hours to reach. It was an enlivening experience to trek through lush greens while some stunning views accompanied us all around.

Sweating, we reached the top at about 6 pm and the biting cold up there had us wishing we had packed warmer clothes for our trip to Bir Billing. But the cold and goosebumps vanished once we dug into our piping hot bowls of Maggi and sipped on some refreshing cups of tea. The views from this point were absolutely mesmerising, and we couldn’t wait when we’d be checking them out from the skies the next morning.
Post the delightful snacks, we checked out the awesome surroundings and rested in our camps.

Waking up in the hills has always been a charming experience for me. Add to it some totally mind blowing views that we got here. Soon other people had started to come out of their tents and we had a good laugh seeing the faces of people who were camping out for the very first time!

We indulged in a spot of fresh breakfast which was as sumptuous as our dinner the previous night. Then we proceeded for our much awaited adventure- paragliding.
We climbed uphill from where we were supposed to glide back down. I watched others throw themselves off the hills and into the air, screaming with delight. Seeing them, I started feeling a little nervous, though I had indulged in such adventure sports before.

With my heart racing, I hurled myself off the mountain upon finally reaching my turn. Once I was in the sky, soaring high over the hills and green pastures while my face went numb due to the cold gusts of wind, utter thrill and excitement overtook my anxiety.

After a truly invigorating session of paragliding in the hills, we bid adieu to Bir and headed home.
Walking through thickets & mountain passes, dancing & laughing around a bonfire, making new friends, and soaring over enchanting hills and lush landscapes…the 2 days of my trip to Bir Billing gave me memories of a lifetime!
What I loved: The time we were ‘bonding over the bonfire’, the trek uphill to our campsite, and of course, the unmatched experience of paragliding over Bir’s hills. In total, the trip was value for money.
What I didn’t love as much: The tiring bus journey
Tips for future travelers: Be light on your backs, especially if your itinerary includes ‘trekking’; carry sufficient warm clothing as it gets quite chilly at night at the campsite; carry flashlights.
