Resorts World Sentosa is an integrated resort on the popular island of Sentosa, located off the southern coast of Singapore. The biggest highlights of this place are Singapore’s two famous casinos that are located here. Aquarium is also located here. Resorts World Sentosa was built at a cost of S$6.59 billion (US$4.93 billion) under the supervision of Genting Singapore. The total expense incurred in the building and development of this resort makes Resorts World Sentosa the 3rd most expensive building ever constructed in 2010. The resort is spread across an area of over 49 hectares (120 acres) of land and has the capacity to employ more than 10,000 people directly when it is fully open. Resorts World Genting, Pahang, Malaysia and Resorts World Manila, Philippines are the sister resorts to Resorts World Sentosa.

The resort was first open for a short period and this phase is called the ‘soft launch’ period. During its soft launch, the first 4 hotels were opened on 20 January 2010. This was followed by the opening of the FestiveWalk shopping mall which was launched on 1 February. The first day of the Chinese New Year is considered to be auspicious and was chosen as the day for opening the Casino, so it was inaugurated on 14 February 2010. A crowd puller – The Maritime Experiential Museum opened its gates to the public on 15 October 2011 and the last attraction of the park, the Marine Life Park was officially opened on 22 November 2012. The grand opening celebration for the integrated resort held on 7 December 2012, was officiated by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong along with Genting Group Chairman Lim Kok Thay. Resorts World Sentosa may also organize large-scale exhibitions such as Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future.
