A travel buff, Bhavya Kaushik always finds himself either planning his next trip or reminiscing about the last. He booked a 3 day trip with TravelTriangle for 8 travelers, which included his group’s stay and local tours, costing a total of Rs.24300. Here, he shares with us a personalized account of his trip.
Rajasthan has always fascinated me. But it’s not so much about the destination as about the journey, it is said. So when my friends booked a 3 day tour package to Jaisalmer through TravelTriangle after an extensive web search, I was more than excited. We are a group of the most laid-back and chilled out folks — ranging from travel experts to engineers, professors and managers. It is this diverse mix that took the experience to a whole new level.
Day 1 : Shades of the Sun
After a long but not-so-tiring journey, we reached our hotel and unpacked. The hotel was like an antique Rajasthani Haveli with huge chandeliers, royal paintings, extravagant rooms and a very friendly staff. The sun was out and it was a beautiful day with a moderate weather. Our first stop of the day was Patwon ki Haveli, which once housed significant people and royals. The view from the top of the Haveli featured a spellbound look of the Jaisalmer palace, where we clicked numerous pictures.
This was followed by an authentic Rajasthani lunch and a visit to the Gadsisar Lake. For a tour of the lake, we were given a boat big enough to accommodate the entire gang. From our boats, we admired numerous architectural marvels constructed in the middle of the lake. While the sun was setting, we all sat on the banks of the lake and listened to some of our favorite tracks, which for me, was one of the best parts of the entire trip. Coming back to the hotel, we feasted upon the lavish dinner provided to us, before calling it a night.

Day 2 : Arabian Night
Our second day of the trip was designed to make us feel like kings. We started the day by visiting the magnificent Jaisalmer fort. The narrow streets of the town led to the golden fort, surrounded by the chromatic houses. You can understand why Jaisalmer is called the Golden City, only if you see it yourself. Post a royal Rajasthani lunch, we were taken to the Sam sand dunes. It took us around 90 minutes to reach the place.
Once there, we boarded our respective camels from the Camel Point, that took us on a desert safari. With the nightfall, we left the sand dunes reluctantly and reached the Desert Camp where we thoroughly enjoyed a regal stay.
Day 3 : Wrapping up the fun
The next day we left the camp and visited Kuldhara, a haunted village located near Jaisalmer. The place was off-beat and didn’t have many visitors. Here, we got to know about tales of the haunted and paranormal instances that had supposedly occurred in the past.
Later that day, we visited a beautifully constructed Jain temple and sat on the banks of the nearby lake. As the trip was coming to an end, we relaxed a little before wrapping it up. We got back to our lives, with memories of a beautiful city that spoke back to us in a language unknown.
Throughout the trip, the enthusiasm in our gang kept everything going well and upbeat. All the people who helped us manage the trip— from the agents to hotel staffers and drivers—were extremely welcoming and helpful. The best part was that the entire trip didn’t cost much and we got everything beyond our expectations.
High Points: Sitting on the banks of the Gadsisar Lake was a moment of a lifetime. Along with music playing in the background, the melting sun painted an enchanted picture.
Low Points: Although it was October, it got extremely hot during the day. Also, we faced inconvenience due to a scarcity of ATMs in the city.
Tips to future travelers:
- The main market gets closed around 9 PM, so if you want to go shopping, plan accordingly.
- To beat the heat, drink a lot of water to avoid dehydration.
- It is advisable to carry sunscreens and sunglasses for the day and warm clothes for the night.
