Tourists from Bangalore and Mangalore often drive to Coorg to visit the hilly peaks. Bangalore is 264 km away, and the travel would take approximately 5 to 6 hours.
Tourists from Mangalore can drive there, too, and there are two possible routes. The first route goes through Sullia, and the second passes Ithoor. The distance between Mangalore and Kote Betta is 170 km, and the trip would take around 4-5 hours. If people travel via bus, the Karnataka State Road Transport Service will drop them closest to the place at Madikeri, from where they can hire a cab. If they choose private buses, they drop them off slightly further at Hattihole, the Kote Betta base camp.
2. By Rail
Tourists can take a train from Bangalore or Mysore to Subramanya Railway Station. From there, they can hire a cab to drive them to Kote Betta.
Another route is a train to the Mysuru Railway Station and a cab drive to the hills in Coorg.
