There is a famous saying by Bill Cunningham – “Fashion is the armour to survive the reality of everyday life”. Whether we realize it or not, fashion is a part of our daily lives and we enjoy it. With the motto of ‘Fashion for a cause’, the style game literally went up a notch as Nepal held a fashion show on the very grand Mount Everest. Yes, you heard it right! No jokes here and no hidden tactics! Nepal has been able to create history by organizing the Mt Everest Fashion Show for the very first time at an altitude this high in all these years. As the whole world looks upon Everest, Nepal uses fashion as a device to bring the sensitive topic of climate change into ‘limelight’.
Known as the Mount Everest Fashion Runway, the event was held at Kalapathar at a height of 5,340 meters which is a commendable work done for boosting the tourism sector of Nepal. Making its way into Guinness World Records, Nepal gave the world something interesting and challenging to look forward to.
The show was a part of the Nepal Tourism Board and comprised of models from various countries like Singapore, Italy, Finland and many more. The trekking journey to the final location is worth mentioning as all the people incorporated biodegradable clothes, shampoo, and many such organic things to ensure environmental protection, thereby supporting the true agenda behind the Mt Everest Fashion Show. Not only this, but the clothes showcased by the models were from the KASA clothing line and the best part about them was the material used for the designing were yak wool and Nepali Pashmina.
The whole event will go on air as a reality show in the months of April and May, so mark these months! If you are a fashionista, we bet you would be wondering how all of this carried out at a place with such a dipped temperature. And even if you do not belong to the fashion realm, then there is a lot to explore in Nepal if you still haven’t. It is time to applause Nepal for the great work and welcoming 2020 with such a great message. Are you in it then?
