My wife and I are avid travelers and we never let an opportunity to travel pass us by, so much so that we spend every long weekend on the road, even if it involves exploring places near our city. Meeting new people and experiencing new cultures and customs excites me more than anything else. I believe each place holds a new experience waiting to be explored. In fact, if I ever find someone to finance travel for me, I’d spend my entire life on the road!

After my fabulous honeymoon trip to North East India through TravelTriangle, it was pretty obvious who I’d approach for my second romantic vacation. And we weren’t disappointed with the services we received apart from some minor hassles here and there. Shoes On Loose did a fine job and made our romantic trip to Bali a cherishable experience.

I had always wanted to go to Bali. And when I felt that the time was right, I simply typed TravelTriangle in Google search and sent a query for a Bali trip. Here’s the catch – I wanted my choice of destination to be a surprise for my wife. She had no idea where we were going till we checked in at the airport!

The most awesome experiences we had on our romantic trip to Bali

Out of the myriad experiences we had on our trip, we’ve singled out the ones we loved. The following things to do in Bali are a must for everyone visiting this island city:

Engaging in a number of watersports activities in Bali

The first water activity we engaged in was river rafting on the second day of our 6 nights Bali tour. The adrenaline fueling experience of battling with the raging rapids of Ayung River was nothing short of ecstasy. The tour ended with a charging dip in the cool river.

We tried a number of watersports while in Bali. After rather disappointing rounds on the jet ski and speed boat, we proceeded to try deep sea diving (only me) and Flying Fish at our own expense (a total of INR 7,700/-). While flying fish was unique and totally exhilarating in itself, I fell in love with the experience of deep sea diving in the biodiversity-rich Balinese ocean.

Sailing the vast ocean for a Dolphin Tour

We were picked quite early for our Dolphin Tour and we loved every bit of this adventure, right from the ride across the ocean currents on a delightful boat, to the feeling of spotting schools of dolphins gallivanting about merrily.

We didn’t get to spot many dolphins from a close range since there were too many boats and these beautiful sea creatures aren’t fond of human contact on such a massive scale. Every time a cute little dolphin showed up, the other boats would start chasing it, causing it to gallop away. But no matter what, the joy of watching these adorable creatures in their natural habitat was unbeatable.

Staying at a private pool villa in Bali

This is an absolute must for all couples visiting Bali. Bali has a plethora of luxurious and beautiful private pool villas that offer complete seclusion, the best of facilities, gorgeous views, and utmost relaxation to couples on their romantic trip to Bali. During our holiday, we stayed at the Alam Puri Art and Museum villa, a stunning oasis in the heart of Ubud, Bali. The mix of ancient Balinese architecture and unending modern amenities that this villa offered us was simply amazing.

Because of lack of time, we couldn’t enjoy all its attractive facilities like private pool, poolside bar, swim-up bar, lavish multi-cuisine restaurant, spa tub, health spa, beauty services, library, picnic area, and more. In fact, we were left cursing ourselves for not having have booked more days at this charming private pool villa in Bali. Even now, it’s so strong a yearning that it just might compel us to go back to Bali some day!

    Exploring the temples of Bali

We visited temples like Ulun Danu and Tanah Lot during our honeymoon in Bali. While Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, the prominent Shaivite water temple, was enchanting in its own sense, the alluring architecture of Tanah Lot simply took our breath away. Situated on a hillock off the shores of a beach in South Bali, Tanah Lot is a rock formation-cum-holy shrine that all photographers visiting Bali go gaga over! Other than the neat architecture, the peaceful and tranquilizing aura of this ancient sanctum too was overpowering.

Renting a bike for a self-assisted tour of Bali

Trust us, renting a bike is not only going to let you explore all places to visit in Bali better, it’ll also rid you of the monstrous traffic prevalent here. Much of our sightseeing went down the drain during the first few days of the trip. Which is why, we hired ourselves this chic little ride and vroomed away to discover top attractions in Bali on our way, weaving with ease through hour-long sessions of traffic wherever needed!

We covered a variety of attractions through our bike tour, including some mind blowing ones like the Upside Down World Bali and 3D Dream Museum. We ended the day with a delicious dinner at Queen of India restaurant which served us a vast variety of food keeping in mind that we were strict vegetarians following Jainism.

More than the attractions, we loved the exhilarating and downright romantic experience of riding a bike through those pretty landscapes, with the strong gusts of wind tingling our senses!

Top Things To Do On A 6 Day Honeymoon Trip To Bali

Our Not-So-WOW moments: The activity-duration of water sports we had booked | The dishonesty of sports operators conducting those water sports | The cruise in Ubud | The lack of communication between us and our driver cum guide at times | The traffic in Bali

    Tips for future travelers:

    • Rent a bike for commuting and explore the city on your own as much as you can. The traffic in Bali can cause you to excessively lose out on sightseeing
    • Do not stick to the itinerary blindly. Research well about the things and places you can explore and customise your Bali tour accordingly
    • Leave time for leisure activities, especially on a romantic trip to Bali
    • Don’t book expensive accommodations for shorter trip durations, as you may not be able to enjoy the services you paid for due to shortage of time
    • Don’t visit Gitgit Waterfall if it is completely secluded, as it can be unsafe
    • Sports operators and local guides can be rather dishonest in Bali. If they refuse to provide certain experiences on grounds such as bad weather conditions, confirm this information from other sources around. Don’t just take their word for it.
