When travel is a passion, there is often a tendency to unearth hidden gems. One such account of travelers finding exactly what they were looking for is Tanmay and his wife’s marvelous honeymoon in Diu. Their trip cost them a total of INR 26,000 which included their transfers, accommodation, sightseeing, and breakfast.
Having a life partner who is as enthusiastic about travel certainly helps. Planning travel became a whole lot more interesting. Our search for a secluded, beautiful, and interesting destination concluded at Diu. I landed at the TravelTriangle page while searching for Diu holiday packages.
I liked their concept of providing a custom itinerary to their travelers. I submitted a request on their website and got a call back for the same. Mithun from TravelTriangle understood our destination requirements and places to visit in Diu. He connected me to various travel agents providing multiple offers for the same itinerary. I finally selected the best deal given to me by ‘Compass Tourism’ agency.
The booking process went through with ease and just like that we were ready to explore and enjoy another great destination that promised a lot with each other.
Day 1: Visiting the artistic ashrams in Ahmedabad
After taking an overnight train from Bhopal, we arrived in Ahmedabad at 9 am. The cab driver picked us up from the railway station and dropped us to the Kohinoor Plaza Hotel. After resting for a while and having lunch, we left the hotel to do some sightseeing. The cab took us to the outskirts of Ahmedabad to Sabarmati Ashram and then Adalaj Kuan.
To wind up places to visit in Ahmedabad, we visited the Akshardham Temple. The amount of intricate carvings done of the temple buildings was mindblowing. A very clean and beautiful temple complex made our experience all the more enjoyable. We returned to the hotel at 8 pm and rested for the night.

Day 2: Road trip to Diu
Post breakfast, we checked out of the hotel at 9 am and began our journey to Diu by car. It was a long journey to say the least. We traveled straight across from end of Gujarat to another. We finally arrived in Diu at 4 pm and checked into the Sea-village resort.
Luckily, we made it in time for the first beautiful sunset of our honeymoon trip to Diu. The resort was situated right on the Jallandhar Beach. The beach was very neat and clean, and the sand was pretty much unspoilt and soft. To get rid of our travel tiredness, we kept our schedule light for that evening after dark and waited for the next day.

Day 3: Beaches, caves, and the culture of Diu
The next morning, I woke up on a crisp morning with a slight breeze blowing. I rubbed my eyes and almost reminded myself that I was in such a beautiful place on a honeymoon trip to Diu. We left at 10am for sightseeing. The driver took started with a visit to Diu Fort, Church, and Nagoa Cave. We returned by 1 pm because the driver advised us there’s not much to see in the afternoon.
Diu can get a little sleepy and quiet in the afternoon, but we were up and running like rabbits in the evening after a quick nap. We visited the Gupteshwar Cave and Nagoa Beach. There were water sports activities also at Nagoa, but since we didn’t know about it, we couldn’t take out much time. Overall, I loved spending time at Nagoa Beach. Although it is slightly more crowded than Jallandhar beach, but the beautiful makes up for all the people visiting.

Day 4: Treading out in the jungle to Gir
Post breakfast, we checked out at 10 am and drove to Gir National Park. One of the rare places to witness the Asiatic Lion. We arrived in Sasan Gir at noon. We checked into this fantastic place called Anil Farmhouse. Our stay at this place made our honeymoon trip to Diu truly memorable. What made this place make us feel welcome was the beautiful garden, swimming pool and playground. The food was made their fresh picked off the yard, organic and completely fresh.
We had a delicious lunch and after that, proceeded for a safari. The jungle safari in Gir began in the national park at 3 pm. Although, we weren’t lucky enough to see the Asiatic Lion, we had a good time in the open roof jeep in Gir roaming in the jungle seeing the landscape and other wild animals. We returned back to the farmhouse at 7 pm and called it a night.

The next day, we packed our bags and checked out of the lovely farmhouse at 8 am. We began our journey by car back to Ahmedabad bidding goodbye to fond memories of 4 lovely days spent in Gujarat. On our way back to Ahmedabad, my wife and I recollected our time spent at the beautiful places we stayed and the places we explored.
It was a great beginning to a new phase of our life, which symbolically began with going to place less traveled and in turn, that place turned out to be beautiful. We arrived in Ahmedabad at 5 pm and boarded our train back to Bhopal.
