It took 12 years of repentance for God Surya (Healer) to listen to his prayers, and finally, Samba was free of leprosy. He was so grateful to God Surya that he decided to build a temple in his honour, which is believed to be the Konark Temple. One day, when bathing in the river, he discovered a picture of God Surya, which he then placed in the temple he built for God Surya.
