Brindavan Gardens in Mysore came into existence in 1932 when Sir Mirza Ismail, the then diwan of Mysore state got an idea of beautifying the surrounding areas of the Krishnaraja Sagar Dam (KRS Dam), situated in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district. In 1927, the construction of this garden started inside the premises of the KRS Dam, which took almost five years to complete. Brindavan Gardens located in Mysore is designed by Gustav Hermann Krumbiegel.
Brindavan Garden is based on the Shalimar Gardens of Kashmir, also built as a terrace garden in the ancient Mughal style. Similarly to the Shalimar Gardens of Kashmir, this place radiates grandeur and beauty, featuring illuminating fountains, terraces, water channels, parterres, lawns, and flowerbeds.

Brindavan Gardens is divided into two main parts that are North Brindavan and south Brindavan and each of them has their unique attractions. The area near the Cauvery Statue is South Brindavan and the ground in front of this statue is called the Kaveramma circle where you can see a number of magnificent huge water fountains that are illuminated at night time.
