The history of Eachanari Vinayagar Temple dates back to the 15th century. As such, there are no valid records of who constructed this temple or first performed pujas there. According to the legends, when the idol of Vinayagar or Ganesh was taken to the Pateeswarar Temple in Perur in Western Coimbatore, the cart in which the idol was being transported for installation broke down near a village called Eachanari and got seated into the soil.
When it became impossible to recover the cart and move on, the devotees took it as the Lord’s wish to reside here and constructed the temple there.
