This is the first vehicle-drivable Indian pass that opens each year, and it stays closed during the high winter season. It was likely used by guards or archers to scan the terrain for signals of incoming enemies and to protect themselves against attack.

    This Hindu deity Shikari Devi temple, located at the base of Moti Tibba, is a renowned pilgrimage place. Shikari Devi Temple is approximately 18 km from Janjehli and is accessible by a jeepable forest road. It is situated at a height of 3359 metres. The dense woodlands on the route to Shikari Peak are amazing. Being the tallest mountain in the Mandi District, it is also known as the Crown of Mandi. This location is popular among nature enthusiasts due to its vast green meadows, breathtaking dawn and sunset views, and panoramic views of the mountain peaks. The area receives a lot of snow throughout the winter.

    The site may be reached from Karsog, which is only 21 km from Shikari Devi. On Shikari Peak, there is a roofless temple dedicated to Shikari Devi, the Goddess of Hunters, which is supposed to have been founded (Sthapit) by Pandavas. It is reported that Sage Markanday pondered here for many years. It has been noticed that, despite the temple’s lack of a roof, no snow has been seen on the temple grounds throughout the winter, while the entire terrain around this temple is blanketed in several feet of snow. Visitors can hike to Chindi, Karsog, and Janjehli from Shikari by several routes. Adventurers can explore Kamrunag by embarking on a 16-kilometre hike over the broad-spread meadows on this hilltop path with magnificent panoramic beauty and ideal tranquillity.

    6. Chehni Kothi

    This colonial-era rest home, built in the early twentieth century, is a favourite destination for guests looking to relax and enjoy the scenery. Chehni Kothi is located in Chehni hamlet in the Banjar valley of Kullu Manali, 60 kilometres from Kullu, 7 kilometres from Banjar, and 66 kilometres from Mandi. Chehni is also known for its twin-tower temples. Chehni Kothi, a 1500-year-old edifice, was King Raja Rana Dhadhia’s fortified home.

    Chehni is 57 km from Kullu by car, followed by a 3-kilometre uphill climb. The fort was partially destroyed by the earthquake of 1905. At present, the fort stands 60 feet tall. This temple was restored thanks to a local rehabilitation programme. The Chehni Tower Temple is the highest edifice of its kind in the Western Himalayas. The Bhagwati temple, also known as Chehni Tower, is a nine-tier edifice with four levels of stone construction supporting the top five tiers of the temple. A wooden staircase at the entryway leads to the temple’s higher floors. A projected balcony 12 metres above the ground acts as the tower’s intermediate point. The uppermost floor has idols of a few gods.
