We have traveled to many destinations around the world like Bali, Italy, and Switzerland. However, I keep hearing positive reviews from people who have been to Kashmir. They call it the Switzerland of India, and all this praise made me want to visit Kashmir even more.
Last year, I traveled to Italy and that time i received quotes from TravelTriangle but the package didn’t work out for me. This time, I contacted TravelTriangle for a Kashmir package and they gave me good quotes at competitive prices.

1. Houseboat stay in Neegan Lake
s a nice romantic ambiance with plenty of personal space.
The moment we checked into our Wangnoo Sheraton houseboat, it started drizzling. However, the rain did not disappoint us, it added to the charm of the lake and the picturesque views around us. Since it was raining that night, the candlelight dinner was served inside the boat. I tried to pinch myself as I was spending an unforgettable evening with my soulmate in a luxurious houseboat.
2. Majestic mountains in Gulmarg
Trip To Kashmir – It Is Not Just About Destination, But Also About The People You Fall In Love With!
It was the day of our anniversary, when we decided to visit Gulmarg. On our way, we stopped at the Polo view market in Srinagar for some shopping. After a scenic two-hour ride, we checked into the Vintage hotel in Gulmarg with a welcome Kahwa tea. Out of all the places we visited in Kashmir, this hotel gave us the best Kahwa tea we had. The room was great with an amazing view of snow clad mountains.
We quickly got ready for our gondola ride and walked to the starting point which was a kilometer away. The view from the gondola was beautiful as we got a panoramic view of the mountains covered with snow. After reaching the top-most point, we stayed there for an hour and clicked many pictures.
Later in the evening, it started drizzling and instead of going to the market in Gulmarg we returned to our hotel. We had a delicious Mutton Rogan Josh and Dum Aloo for dinner to end a lovely day in Gulmarg.
When I returned to the room, I was surprised to see the room decorated with flowers and candles. My wife made this romantic arrangement for us as an anniversary gift. At that moment, I felt like the luckiest husband in the world.
From South To North- This Family Trip To Kashmir Proves Why It Is A Winter Wonderland!
The next day, we got up early and went ahead for sightseeing in Gulmarg on horseback. Initially, the horse owners asked for an absurd amount like INR 1200 per person but I eventually bargained it down to INR 300.
Sightseeing places in Gulmarg: Children’s park, Maharaja Palace, and St Mary’s church
3. Srinagar: A gem in the valley
Situated in the valley, Srinagar gave us an impression of a quaint and peaceful city. During our time in Srinagar, we decided to visit the Chashme Shahi springs and the Tulip Garden.
Later on, we decided to go for a short shikara ride in Dal Lake. After all, we did avoid staying overnight in Dal Lake but a short tour of the lake was something we weren’t willing to skip. Although our shikara ride was for only an hour, we requested our boat driver to take us towards the open area. The area of the lake from where we started our tour was very crowded and had a bad odor caused by the pollution in the lake. Additionally, we had no intentions of visiting the Meena Bazaar market in the lake.
4. Snow-clad views in Sonmarg
This Is Exactly What An Ideal Family Trip To Kashmir Looks Like!
We were welcomed in Sonmarg with snowfall. The entire trip felt like a ‘paisa vasool’ experience upon seeing snowfall at such a place. We decided to stop the car midway and step outside the car to click pictures, and enjoy in the snow.
For sightseeing in Sonmarg, we had to take a union taxi cab. We again faced a lot of overcharging by taxi drivers. They were demanding a price of INR 5000 for 10km of sightseeing which I again bargained down till INR 2000. The first place we visited was the fish point, followed by the view point in Sonmarg.
The weather got so cold that we were considering to not visit the final sightseeing place ie Glacier Point. However, after having some Maggi and Kahwa at a small food joint, we got the energy and motivation to visit the glacier point.
We went to the top of the glacier point via sledges. We saw the point where Bajrangi Bhaijaan movie was shot. The view was excellent and definitely worth the effort going there. After our sightseeing got over, the union taxi dropped us at the starting point in Sonmarg where Lucky Ali (our guide) was waiting for us. We arrived back in Srinagar that night at 7 pm.

There was so much learning on this trip to Srinagar for the both of us. Contrary to the popular belief, we didn’t see any stone pelting and civil unrest in Kashmir. The place is filled with people who live a calm and normal life. The beauty of Kashmir was not exaggerated by its visitors. After visiting places like Sonmarg, Gulmarg, and Srinagar, it felt like India is blessed to have such a beautiful place to call their own.
