“Change is the only constant in life.”

For Suphil, traveling to new places is a pleasant change. It breaks the monotony and introduces her to new landscapes and people. Suphil’s family trip to Kashmir is a perfect example of ‘family who travels together, stays together’.

Quirky and self-sufficient, Suphil likes to learn about new cultures and have new experiences. She likes to live in the moment so that she can take mental pictures of the places she has visited and reminisce about them later in her free time.

Suphil and her family had always wanted to visit Kashmir. So she decided to take her parents and grandmother to show them the heaven on earth. She instantly downloaded the TravelTriangle app from the Playstore, which she found convenient and tour-friendly, and finalized the package.

Here is what Suphil did on her family trip to Kashmir:

Day 1: Garden Hopping in Kashmir

Kashmir is known as heaven on the earth because of its numerous gardens. The first place we decided to visit in Kashmir was Pari Mahal in Srinagar. The enchanting beauty of the gardens stole my heart in a jiffy. The views of the Dal Lake from the garden were so divine.

Our next stop was the Chashme Shahi Garden which is known for its natural spring of fresh water. The Mughal Garden is surrounded by the flowers of variegated colors and the therapeutic waters of the lake look so pacifying.

We also visited the ‘City of Roses’, another spectacular garden blooming with colorful roses in different colors. Of all the beautiful gardens in Kashmir, Pari Mahal was my favorite.

We ended our day on a spectacular note by enjoying a memorable shikara ride to our houseboat in Dal Lake. Badyari Palace Houseboat, the place where we stayed, ushered us with royal treatment. It was like living in a floating palace.

Day 2: Excursion to Pahalgam

After a long drive to Pahalgam, we reached the valley around 1 PM. Our first stop was Aru Valley – a remote paradise in Anantnag. The beauty of Aru Valley is hard to describe because it casts such a strong spell on you. It was so cold that I was shivering in the month of May as I immersed my feet in the stream. We also bought a sweater and Kashmiri dresses from the local shops.

En route Chandanwadi, we stopped at the Mini-zoo where we spotted leopard, bears, and deer. The scenic drive to Chandanwadi along the Lidder River was really a great experience. Even though the snow there had turned all thick and brown, the captivating surroundings made it worth a visit.

Our last stop was the Betab Valley, named after the famous Bollywood movie. The location looked more captivating than it seemed in the movie. We took photos to capture memories and the gorgeous surrounding in the backdrop.

We checked in Hotel Pahalgam Retreat for the night. Our luxury family suite on the topmost floor offered us the enthralling views of the valley. We could not have asked for more.

Day 3: Getting around Gulmarg

Gulmarg is known for exciting Gondola Ride but due to some technical issues, it was not functional during our visit there. The other alternative was either a horse ride or ATV rides. We preferred neither and decided to go for local sightseeing in the cab.

We drove around the View Point, Pastures, Golf Course, Children’s Park, and Zorbing Site. Out of all, Golf Course was fun where my dad competed with each other and both won a round.

We checked into Hotel The Meadows. Everything about the hotel was fine, especially the foo except that it was located at a height. My grandmother had a difficulty reaching to the top but she made it nevertheless.

Day 4: Back to Srinagar

We were supposed to spend the day in Gulmarg and go for Gondola Ride. Since it was not working and we had already covered the attractions, we decided to head back to Srinagar for sightseeing. We went to Nishant Garden where we clicked customary photos in colorful Kashmiri attire. We chilled around there for a while before we checked into Hotel Milad.

Day 5: Shopping and Leisure in Srinagar

We were supposed to go to Sonmarg as we had heard we would find snow there. Unfortunately, my dad’s health deteriorated due to travel and exertion, so we canceled our plans. But we made the most of our day in Srinagar.

My mother and grandmother went shopping at Lal Chowk and got cloth pieces embroidered with intricate and beautiful Kashmiri threadwork. We also had Chicken paranthas which were so delicious. Sadly, it was the end of our beautiful family trip in Kashmir. We left the beautiful heaven the next morning with a heavy heart yet memories to cherish.

Day 6: Back to pavilion

We had our flights scheduled for 10 in the morning. Our whole experience in Kashmir was beautiful and heavenly.

WOW Moments from the trip

  • Pahalgam was the highlight of our trip. The undulating beauty of the dreamland stupefied our senses that we got so confused about where to take pictures and where not.
  • The scenic drive along the Lidder River was another high point of our trip. It was something dreams are made of. I am going to cherish the drive for a lifetime.
  • The accommodation was top-notch. Our stay experience in the family suite was beyond measures except that it was located on a height.

Did you have any negative experiences?

Everything about our trip was excellent except our driver. He was not cordial with us during the entire trip.

Do you think you missed out on anything?

Since my father wasn’t feeling well, we had to miss out on Sonmarg. But we spent that day exploring and shopping in Srinagar.

Overall experience with TravelTriangle

I had a great experience with TravelTriangle and would rate it 4 out of 5. Their policies regarding everything are very smooth.

Tips for future travelers

  • Getting around in Kashmir can be expensive. So bear that in mind.
  • Do not buy walnuts from the vendors at the hotel site. They will turn out to be black and stale.
  • If you want to shop in Kashmir, shop from Pahalgam. The prices and quality are cheaper.
  • Pahalgam is a must-visit. Do not miss it for the world.

The beauty of Kashmir has no bounds which is why it makes a perfect destination for families and honeymooners. If you too wish to have a getaway with your family, plan a family trip to Kashmir which is truly a heaven on earth.
