As aforementioned, Wandoor Beach is a connecting point for many traveling destinations, some of them being Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, Port Blair, Jolly Buoy Island, and Red Skin Islands. Here’s how you can reach the beach and other nearby tourist spots by different means of transport.

By Sea: Traveling by sea is the most preferred way of reaching this beach. One can reach here by taking a boat from Jolly Buoy Island which is located nearby the beach. Jolly Buoy Island is a famous sight for snorkeling hence making Wandoor as a connecting spot.

Boats to Jolly Buoy island leave from Wandoor Beach (by 7.30am) and back (1.30-2.30pm). Little shacks for food and refreshments are dotted all over the beach – leaving no tourists wanting nothing else.

By Road: It is just 25 km away from Port Blair from where one can hop on a bus for Wandoor. It is the last bus stop from Port Blair. Buses are the easiest and cheapest way to travel here, however, if you require, you can also hire a taxi that will obviously be a costlier option. It usually takes around 1 hour to reach through a bus. Once you reach the village, it will take you just five minutes to reach Wandoor Beach.

If you wish to dive in, it is recommended that you make your visit during the summer months, i.e., between October to May. Not only is it a perfect time to scuba dive but also a good time to relax by the beach. This beach has a harsh climate during winters and monsoons, therefore, a visit during this time will not be suggested. During monsoons, it faces heavy downpours and winters can be really cold. 1. Jolly Buoy Island

Jolly Buoy Island is within 30 km reach from Wandoor Beach. This island is a secluded paradise nestled with dense tropical forest and white sandy shore. It is a beautiful place to visit and to indulge in adventure sports. However, keep in mind it is a beautiful getaway island and not a commercial zone, therefore, one might face difficulty in finding a place to change clothes. Also, note that the island is a no-plastic zone. The place is an ideal spot for snorkeling due to its abundant coral life. Moreover, a trip from Wandoor beach to Jolly Buoy Island through a ferry, speedboat, and glass-bottom boat will also be an amazing experience. One important thing to keep in mind is that the island is only open to visit until 2:00 pm. Moreover, it is only open to access for six months.

2. Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park

Located very close to Wandoor Beach, it is often flocked with tourists from around the world. It has 15 islands that are locked with beautiful coral reefs and mangroves. The park was established in 1983 with the idea to protect marine life. Some of the islands are not open to visitors. Here, snorkeling will provide you with surreal vistas. So, those who are traveling to Wandoor should definitely spend some time in Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park.

3. Viper Island

If you wish to travel to a place that is surrounded by the right amount of historic and heavenly, then add this one to your list. It will take you around 40 minutes to reach this place from Wandoor Beach. One can also avail of a ferry ride from Port Blair. In the British era, it had a jail that you can take a tour of during your visit. It is recommended to visit the place during the months of November and February. During this time, the island experiences lesser rains and moderate temperatures, hence, making it ideal for traveling.

4. Red Skin Island

Red Skin Island is a part of the Mahatma Gandhi Narine National Park. The island is only open to visit for six months in a year. Moreover, it shares an alternative visiting time with Jolly Buoy Island, i.e., when you can visit any one of the two during your visit. Note that the island is closed on Mondays and can only be visited during the daytime so plan your travel accordingly. The island is nature at its best and has no shops or food courts, just a vast expanse of pristine sand. People usually wander here for coral reefs.

5. Port Blair

Situated on the Southern Andaman, Port Blair is the capital city of Andaman and Nicobar islands. Cellular Jail is one of the most famous attractions here. A trip from Wandoor Beach to Port Blair will take approximately 33 minutes since it is 19.3 km away.
