Apurva Khemka talks about her trip to Thailand with her husband Praveen and son Piyush. She describes her experience in the island nation and elaborates on how this country is perfect for all those young at heart. She booked her 6-day land and air package through Travel Triangle which included her flights, hotels, sightseeing, and tours all for a cost of INR 86,000.

We were excited for our trip to Thailand. My husband and I wanted to visit the country for its nightlife, scenic beauty, and also probably because such a happening place might not be practical during the later part of our lives.

Being frequent travelers, we have traveled to a lot of places, the last one being Europe. So this time, when we got the 4-5 day break during the festive season, we decided to make the most of it.

Since my husband already knew someone in Travel Triangle, our choice to try the portal was already made and boy, we were not disappointed! As soon as we gave the necessary details; suitable itineraries and quotes matching our requirements were sent to us. After selecting the best tour package for Thailand, we were ready to chill in the island country. Me, my husband and our 2-year-old kid, Piyush.

Day 1: Phuket – Traveling for the sake of beauty

Apurva in the lobby of her hotel in Phuket Thailand

The first day went into traveling since we boarded the flight in the afternoon (Kolkatta) and reached Thailand (Phuket) at night. Because it was late, we decided to roam around the streets, before retiring for the night.

Day 2: Phuket – Exploring the city on a rented bike

Apurva on a bike with her family near Karon Beach Phuket

This was one of the best days from the trip. The agent had planned a shopping plaza visit for us, but we decided to skip it and explore the city instead. So, we rented a bike and set out to find new places.
We found the Karon beach and spent a lot of time there, soaking in the beauty of Thailand and engulfing its fresh air. It was a nice change from the usual monotony. Exploring around on our own gave us a sense of freedom that we usually don’t find in pre-planned vacations.

Later, it started raining and we were now frantically looking for umbrellas. Looking back at that time, I find it all to be a part of a bigger plan, one which wanted us to have a great time.
Much to our delight, we also managed to find a nice vegetarian restaurant and enjoy its delicious food.

Day 3: Phuket – Visiting the Phi Phi Island

The third day was the Phi Phi Island visit via cruise. This island for lack of better words was simply incredible. There were a lot of water activities and the buffet organized for us was great. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole tropical feel and the scenic beauty of the island was a feast to the eyes.

The fourth day mostly went into travel, since we were transferred to Pattaya. After checking into our hotel, we went to the pool area and had a good time there.

Later, my husband took me out to a romantic candlelight dinner under the trees and it was beyond perfect. I will always remember this dinner, for it was a blissful experience.

Day 5: Coral Island, Pattaya – Up above the world so high

Apurva on the beach with her son Piyush

The fifth day was one of the most adventurous days of the trip since it involved a lot of fun activities. The Coral Island tour was awesome, it offered a lot of activities like parasailing, paragliding, and snorkeling among others. I did parasailing and it was an out of the world experience for me. The whole of Pattaya was visible to me from the top and it was a magical, once in a lifetime experience! We decided to keep snorkeling for Maldives for also plan to go there in future.

Coral Island was crowded but nice. There was music, fun and frolic happening all around and it was at this point that my son Piyush started to dance to the hit numbers playing there. He entertained the whole crowd with his dancing skills.

The water in the Coral Island was absolutely blue and I will never forget the view.
We were transferred back to Pattaya in a speed boat but before heading to the hotel, my husband and I got us a tattoo. A permanent reminder of the good times we shared! The ink of love.
