Best Experiences From Our 11 Day Trip To Vietnam And Cambodia
If you’re wondering how to spend 11 days in Vietnam and Cambodia, then we have you covered. I just returned from a Cambodian vacation with my friends and my wife. It was all things amazing, right from the moment we landed in Hoi An until we caught our flight back home.
1. Halong Bay: Cruise Day
First up on our Vietnam Itinerary of 11 days was a day spent in a cruise at Halong Bay. What is sightseeing in Vietnam, if it’s not on a cruise? One simply does not miss an overnight stay in the Halong Bay Cruise. We stayed at the Legend White Dolphin Cruise and it was simply amazing. We enjoyed a delicious lunch with some stunning views of the seascape. We also made a stop at Sung Sot Cave and Titov Island for pictures. A sunset party was organized as well on the sundeck for the guests onboard. After a wonderful evening, we head to our rooms to catch up on some sleep.
Waking up on a cruise is an experience of its own. In the morning we went for the Tai Chi exercises which were followed by a mouthwatering breakfast on the deck. Later, we enjoyed kayaking and also visited the Ba Hang fishing village. And as much fun as its way, by the afternoon it was time to bid goodbye to the cruise life.

2. Da Nang: Upon The Hills, We Go
We caught our flight to Da Nang and checked into our hotel for some rest. The next day out driver picked us up in the morning for a drive to the Ba Na Hills. We took the cable car and were truly mesmerized by the breathtaking sights that we got to witness. Of the many things to do in Vietnam, I would definitely recommend the cable car experience in Da Nang. We also got a panoramic view of the Vong Nguyet hills as well as the famous orchid gardens.
Later in the day, we visited the Golden Hands Bridge and got some amazing photographs there as well. As the sun started to set, we head to the Read Beach Bay for some shopping. This is a great place to pick up those souvenirs as well!

3. Hoi An: Around The City
Just as we reached Hoi An, we checked into our hotel for a day of rest. The next day, we woke up early and put on our walking shoes because it was time for a city tour! If you plan on spending 11 days in Vietnam, you cannot miss out on the Hoi An City Tour. You haven’t experienced Vietnam until you’ve visited its noisy, vibrant capital city, Hanoi. The traffic-choked streets of the Old Quarter are a riot of color. Navigate the waves of two-wheelers to discover crumbling colonial buildings, street vendors and traditional tubular shops.

4. Angkor: Sightseeing
After enjoying a few days in Vietnam, it was time for the next adventure. We caught our flight to Siem Reap and spent the rest of the day at leisure. The next day, it was time for some sightseeing in Angkor. I have been fascinated by the Angkor temples since they were used as a backdrop for Angelina Jolie’s Tomb Raider movie and when I planned this trip, they quickly became the most anticipated part of our holiday, and they did not disappoint.
From exploring ancient ruins to paying a visit to the Bayon Temple, everything was simply exquisite. And of course, how can we forget the temple of Angkor Wat. This architectural beauty is truly a masterpiece and one of the best places to visit in Siem Reap.
5. Siem Reap: A Visit To Banteay Srei
The next day, we woke up early and made our way to Banteay Srei Temple. It is a very old Shiva Temple and and features some wonderful carvings and decorations. There is a village near the temple as well which is definitely worth a visit. The place itself requires a day of it’s own as there is plenty to see and explore.
6. Phnom Penh: A Glimpse Into The Past
The last few days of our trip as we wanted and had planned as per our Vietnam Itinerary of 11 days, were spent in Phnom Penh where we visited a number of museums and memorials. We learnt a lot about the history of Cambodia and saw many architectural marvels on the excursions we took. From the Tuol Sleng Prison Museum to the Buddhist memorial at Choeung Ek, each place was simply surreal. The 11 days in Cambodia and Vietnam were simply amazing and something we’ll cherish for a long time.

In Hanoi, we stayed at the Era hotel and Kiman Hoi An Hotel & Spa. Both accommodations were spacious and well-equipped. Meanwhile, in Siem Reap, we stayed at Angkor Holiday Hotel and the Samnang Laor Phnom Penh Hotel. We were quite pleased with our stay at the hotels and would certainly recommend them.
