For quite a while, I wanted to visit a beach destination for my honeymoon. At first, I shortlisted Andaman as a possible destination for my honeymoon. But when my friends, who had been on a luxury honeymoon in Maldives themselves, told me about the island country, I reconsidered my decision. The blue water, luxurious resorts, and scenic beaches looked like the ideal place for me to go on a honeymoon.

We began our luxury honeymoon in Maldives by taking a flight from Bengaluru and landing in Male, Maldives around 11 am. Once we arrived, we had to wait at the airport for a few hours because the boat to Kuramathi Island had fixed timings of departure. Finally, the guy from our resort took us to Kuramathi island on a speedboat. It was a gorgeous 90-minute ride that culminated at 4 pm with us arriving at probably the most scenic island I had ever seen in my life. I eventually caught up to the place I was in, after pinching myself to believe that this serene island was the location for my luxury honeymoon in Maldives.

Overwhelmed and flabbergasted by the pristine beauty, we checked into our bungalow rooms and didn’t do much on the first evening except chill in the swimming pool near our room.

Day 2: Explored the crystal clear waters around us

At a pretty slow and rhythmic pace, we began the second day of our luxury honeymoon in Maldives. Post breakfast, we made most of the crisp sunshine and went for a stroll to the beach. We walked around the 2km island resort witnessing various other scenic spots to enjoy and relax.

Post lunch, we thought of jumping into the infinity pool to unwind and rejuvenate ourselves. Later on, we took snorkeling gear from the hotel staff and went snorkeling in the water around our island. We ended the evening by seeing an incredible sunset at the sandbar of Kuramathi Island.

Day 3&4: Spa therapy and a shift to a mind-blowing water villa

The next morning, we started the day with a hearty breakfast and after that, we decided to go for a couple’s spa. The spa therapy wasn’t included in our package, but this was just something we decided to do impromptu.

After the soothing spa session, it was time for us to shift into the amazing water villa. The location of our water villa was absolutely incredible. Surrounded by water all around us immersed in luxury, this was a holiday experience unlike any other. We were so impressed by our water that we decided to spend the rest of the afternoon and evening just chilling out in the villa and spending time with each other.

The fourth day of our luxury honeymoon in Maldives was another leisure day. Around noon, we thought of clicking some pictures and capturing some of these incredible memories we are making every day. Therefore, we traveled to the island jetty and spend some time doing photography. Since it was our last night in Maldives, both of us decided to dress up smart and go for a lavish dinner at one of the island restaurants.

Day 5: Departing from heaven

The next day, post breakfast, we checked out of the amazing water villa and proceeded back to Male for our return journey to India. The speedboat took us back across the serene waters as we were transferred to the airport for our flight.

While it was inevitable, departing from this beautiful piece of land on earth was tough. It was one of those times when I felt the need for time to freeze so that my wife and I could savor this moment forever. In every sense of the word, this was a ‘memorable’ luxury honeymoon in Maldives.

On our arrival, we were made to wait for a few hours at the airport because the boat to Kuramathi Island was waiting for other passengers. In this case, we should’ve been communicated of the same in advance.
