Around 90 km from Shillong, Mawlynnong is a small village in Meghalaya that was awarded the prestigious tag of ‘The Cleanest Village in Asia’ by the Discover India Magazine in the year 2003. The villagers are very particular about keeping the village clean and you can’t find a single cigarette butt or a plastic bag lying around. Take the skywalk in the village and breathe in some fresh air as you explore the village.

2. Matheran- No Cars Allowed

Nestling in the Western Ghats, Matheran is a beautiful hill station in Maharashtra. The most amazing part about the hill town is that you’re required to pay an entry fee (INR 50 for adults and INR 25 for kids) to enter its limits, the proceeds of which goes into the up keeping of its environment . Besides, no vehicles are allowed into the limits of the town, which further guarantees the cleanliness of the air at this charming place.

3. Gavi in Pathanamthitta- Ecotourism at Its Best
