We boarded our flight from Delhi and reached Maldives in the afternoon by 12. Our initial impression on landing was simply ‘wow’ since we loved the warmth and tropical ambience of the country. It was bright, sunny, and not too warm – we loved its vibe!

Post the landing, we were met by the representatives from our resort – Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa.They took us to a well-kept speedboat and transferred us to our island resort. The boat ride was refreshing and the cool misty smell of the ocean excited us about things that were yet to happen!

Upon our arrival at the resort, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and were assigned a lady who briefed us on everything regarding the resort and our stay. Smallest of details about laundry, door locks, and services were covered in this brief and in the end, we truly got a personalized feel through it.

After the formalities, we rested for a while and then went out to explore the beautiful island resort. Centara Ras Fushi Resort and Spa is massive and we found out that it had some 180-200 rooms, out of which 120 were water villas.

Post the island tour, we went for lunch at the ‘Oceans restaurant’ then retired to our room.

This was a cloudy day and we woke up to a magnificent view of the grey sky and blue ocean. Since we had taken a water villa overlooking the ocean, the natural beauty of the place was magnified and the view looked no less than the beautiful wallpaper!

At around 8 AM, we went for the breakfast and enjoyed it thoroughly for the set menu was full of variety. Post this, we went for our snorkeling test (since the snorkeling kits were included in our package) and we passed it with flying colors (both my wife and I are good swimmers).

Later on, we proceeded to the pool and had some drinks there. The view of the ocean was excellent from here and we took many photos.

The rest of the day was spent snorkeling and I absolutely loved swimming in the crystal clear waters of Maldives. There were squids, small turtles, and even baby sharks in the waters – that ran away as soon as we got close to them. It was a heavenly feeling and we really enjoyed it.

The resort also had a place called ‘Viu Bar’ and this was one point where one could have mid time snacks whenever they wanted. My wife and I had a great time here and we talked for many hours without realizing it was almost time for dinner.

Our dinner was at a wonderful Thai restaurant called ‘Suan Bua’ and the food here was totally authentic. It had proper Thai flavor and the meal turned out to be quite an enjoyable one! Post the sumptuous dinner, we retired for the night.

Our experience at the resort so far was amazing!

We had a later than usual start this day. It was raining and there was an air of romantic nostalgia all around. We got ready and after we were done filling our utility bag (provided by Centara) with all the essentials like phone, camera, swimwear etc., we set out for breakfast.

Post an enjoyable breakfast, I again went snorkeling and this time, there were many baby sharks present. It was a refreshing experience and we decided to spend some more time in the open but this time at the ‘Waves Pool Bar’ – where we had a few refreshing cocktails.

Our next stop was the ‘Viu Bar’ and here we had the opportunity to feed the fishes with food tidbits that we were having. It was quite a calming activity and we saw many marine creatures like small turtles and crown fish among others.

The view of the sun blending with the sky and ocean was mesmerizing! Each moment felt like eternity.

This place also had nets installed above the ocean and we sat there for quite a long time –soaking in all the goodness of nature!

It was a bright and sunny morning and we woke up to an amazing view of the ocean courtesy our water villa. I was tempted at the sight and it wasn’t long before I climbed down the stairs of my water villa and jumped into the ocean – snorkeling and rejuvenating my senses.

We had our lunch at an Italian restaurant called ‘La Brezza’ and the food here was delicious. The menu was extensive and the portions were very filling.

Post the lunch, we went to the pool and played water football for quite a long time. It was a proper setup with goal posts on each side and we almost felt we were back in our school days!

The evening was again spent at the ‘Viu Bar’ where we snacked and watched the baby sharks being fed.

Our dinner was at the Oceans restaurant and finally when we returned to our villa, we found a note kept on the table.

This was a note explaining the checkout procedure, flight timings, and other info for our final day tomorrow. It was personalized and we were thoroughly impressed by the level of detail in their service!

Day 5: Bidding farewell to the wonderful Maldives

This was our last day and we had already packed our bags. By the time we checked out, our luggage was already there at the reception.

One good thing at the resort was that even though we had checked out, we could still use all the services. So post and early lunch and some drinks, we finally left the island resort for Male airport.

It was hard to bid goodbye to such a wonderful destination but in the end, we were happy for having spent quality time here.

Maldives turned out to be an amazing destination for both me and my wife. It offered us the much-needed serenity and was a rejuvenating experience – away from all the daily hustles.

Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa was an out of the world experience and if we have to give them a rating out of 10, we would give them an 11.

    High Points:

    • Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa is an excellent island resort for couples who want to have the best time of their lives!
    • The service of the resort was extremely good and offered us a great personalized experience.
    • The resort has special areas for snorkeling (beginner and advance) and it was a delight to swim around in the clear blue ocean amidst turtles, baby sharks, and fishes.
    • There are excellent restaurants at the resort and each one offered a truly authentic experience.
    • People who opt for a full board package have all the meals and activities included and also get a 40$ credit per day, in case one wants to order ala carte.

    Tips for travelers:

We had a couple of properties in our mind and Centara Ras Fushi turned out to be an amazing pick. For all those looking to choose between reputed names like Taj and Oberoi, Centara is a serious contender and punches well above its weight. Be prepared for a delightful stay!
