Best Experiences On Sri Lanka Honeymoon In February
Sri Lanka is a destination that is full of overwhelming experiences and our Sri Lanka honeymoon in February was no less. There was no dearth of things tone could do in this Pearl of the Indian Ocean and this left no stone unturned to ensure that we don’t get disappointed. From museums in Sri Lanka to the exciting casinos, there is something to do for everyone. We are sharing a few experiences that we encountered on our honeymoon.
1. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage: Witnessed The Marvelous Creatures In Their Habitat
Witnessing the magnificent and charming animals of the jungle just having fun in their habitat was definitely a view we would never forget. Looking at elephants taking a bath and baby elephants playing around was the cutest sight we have ever witnessed. Although one could also go for an elephant ride, we avoided that as we are totally against animal cruelty. Overall, spectating the elephants like that was an experience to remember.
2. Tea Plantations: Whiffed The Soul-Soothing Aromas
With aromas that would take one in a trance spread all across, the green tea plantations near the local tea factory were breathtakingly beautiful. Strolling around the plantations was one of the most rejuvenating experiences. Being team-tea, our tea tasting session was equally amazing. Having taken a sip from freshly grounded tea was a different and exciting experience altogether.
3. Baker’s Fall: Experienced The Magic In Waterfall
Witnessing the marvels of mother nature up close was something that we had always thought of. But getting the hands-on experience of the same left us speechless. The magical and mystical Baker’s falls was one of the most refreshing sights on our Sri Lanka honeymoon in February. Taking a dip in the chilly waters of this fall was enough to our fatigue and tiredness away, making our honeymoon to Sri Lanka totally worth it!
4. Ella: Enjoyed The Train Ride
When we were going through the pictures of Sri Lanka on social media, almost every picture talked about the train and hence, this was one of the most anticipated experiences that we were eager to be a part of. Ella was one of the beautiful destinations that we have ever been to. Looking at the lush greenery that surrounded the train tracks simply left us in awe of nature.
5. Hikkaduwa: Satiated The Thirst For Adventure
My husband and I both are huge fans of adventure and thrilling activities and Hikkaduwa simply satisfied our thirst for some exciting activities. One of the brilliant beaches in Sri Lanka, Hikkaduwa gave us an opportunity to witness the underwater world of this destination. Scuba diving in Hikkaduwa was one of the most joyful experiences for us. Witnessing the alluring and intriguing marine life up close helped us gain a different perspective of life altogether.
Our Hotels In Sri Lanka
For our Sri Lanka honeymoon in February, we stayed in different parts of the destination and hence, different hotels. Our overall experience with the stays in these hotels was amazing. We have curated a list of hotels that we stayed at on our honeymoon.
1. Tea Garden Hotel, Nuwara Eliya
One of our favorite hotels in Sri Lanka, Tea Garden Hotel was a very quaint and cute place to stay at. The rooms exhibited magnificent views of the garden. Sitting at a little distance away from the heart of the town, this hotel was one of the neatest and cleanest accommodations. To add, the friendly and welcoming staff of this hotel was nothing less than a cherry on top. Our room was as pretty as it could get and the decorations simply added to the experience.
2. Insight Resort, Ahangama
We just spent one night at this hotel so we couldn’t explore around much. However, the amenities and facilities provided by this hotel left us awestruck. Insight Resort blankets a large pool that was very tempting but since we reached really late and left early, we couldn’t take a dip. The interiors of this hotel were extremely beautiful. The services and rooms in this hotel were to the point. Our stay in this hotel during our Sri Lanka honeymoon in February was great.
3. Earl’s Reef, Beruwala
Earl’s Reef was definitely another one of our favorites in Sri Lanka. This hotel had a private beach area and a garden that is a perfect place to just relax and get rid of all the stress and fatigue. This garden offered some of the most stunning and picturesque views of the ocean that spread as far as the eye can see. We got an opportunity to witness the sunset from where we were sitting. Spectating the hues of yellow and orange falling on various marvels of mother nature simply took our hearts away.
Shopping In Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is home to some of the most gorgeous handicrafts that I have ever witnessed. There were small souvenirs, home decor, elephant motifs, handmade bookmarks, notebooks, and many other items at budgeted rates that made shopping Sri Lanka totally worth it. One can also buy different varieties of freshly ground tea, straight from the tea plantations and local tea factories of Sri Lanka. Another famous thing is king coconut in Sri Lanka which is much sweeter than other coconuts. If one has a budget, people can also choose to buy leather products, paintings, or gemstones. The paintings on display on the streets near the Art Museum were by local artists and left us speechless.
