    The Croco Cun Zoo in Puerto Morelos was initially a crocodile farm. Today, it is home to a large species of animals. You get the chance to get up close and personal with spider monkeys freely roaming in the area, and even play with Mexican dogs if you wish to.     Guadalajara zoo is located in Jalisco, Mexico, and is identified as Mexico’s largest zoo. The place is actually an ecological reserve, spread over an area of one square mile. In this zoo, you will find about 4000 animals belonging to 392 different species, including mammals, birds, amphibians, fish, and reptiles. The place also has a special section called the Veterinary Rancho, were trained vets explain techniques of dealing with domestic animals.

    This is probably one of the most diverse zoos in Mexico. Located in Chiapas, ZOOMAT was founded in 1942. Today, the zoo spans over 250 acres of Mexican land, and is home to otters, tapir, jaguars, anteaters, birds and other animals indigenous to Mexico. The animals are kept in large cages with vegetation representative of their natural habitat all around them. The Casa Nocturna allows visitors to see nocturnal animals during the day with the help of artificial lighting.

    The African Zoo in Puebla allows visitors to witness over 2500 animals in their simulated natural habitats. The fun part of this zoo is that visitors can either choose to move around the park in their private vehicle or use the one provided by the park itself. The vehicles belonging to the park are called the Africa Moines.Once the safari is done, you can visit the Zona de Aventuras, which houses a bat cave, a kangaroo area, a butterfly garden, the turtle room, and the red panda exhibit. To interact with animals like goats, cows, rabbits, and guinea pigs, visit the Zona de Contacto.

    Zoologico Los Coyotes is one of the grandest zoos in Mexico and is the third of its kind in Mexico City. It exhibits the native fauna of Mexico, particularly the two coyotes after whom the zoo has been named. Previously, the zoo was the site of a rehabilitation center for seized animals, but that fell into disrepair. The Los Coyotes Zoo was built to replace the older zoo and opened its door to public on 2nd February 1999 and has been a favorite among locals and tourists alike. Zoo Leon is yet another equally good zoo that you can spend some time at, in between sightseeing, or shopping.
