    Chopta is a year round destination which is looked upon by adventure enthusiasts who love trekking and camping. The weather in summer is mostly pleasant for camping. The roads are clear and temperature stays between 15-25 degrees.

    How to reach Chopta

    By air: Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the nearest airport to Chopta – 220 km. Government buses and private cabs regularly ply from Dehradun to Chopta.

    By rail: Rishikesh is the nearest railway station to Chopta. The remaining 160 km from railway station can be covered by a bus or a cab.

    By road: Chopta is well connected to Delhi – 405 km and major cities in Uttarakhand by road. UTC buses make traveling quite convenient in these areas. Some of the cities from where Chopta can be easily accessed are:

    Rishikesh – 164 km – 5 hours
    Haridwar – 184 km – 5 hours 45 minutes
    Dehradun – 203 km – 6 hours 15 minutes

    If you are planning camping in Chopta, you’ll be glad to know that the camping duration is quite flexible. It is suitable for weekend and as well as a long weekend getaways from Delhi and other nearby towns. 1 night, 2 days camping is an ideal weekend getaway wherein you stay in camp, perform some adventure activity, or plan sightseeing during the day, and after a fun filled night, end the trip on a high. 2 nights, 3 days camping, on the other hand, includes the trek to Tungnath Temple and Chandrashila Peak (covered under places to visit near Chopta), which adds to difficulty and adventure quotient.

    Day 0 – Day of departure

    The day of departure from your respective places to Chopta. There are no direct buses from Delhi to Chopta. Assuming that you are traveling from Delhi, the bus journey from Delhi to Haridwar takes almost 5.5 hours. Further, you will have to take a roadways bus or a cab to reach Chopta, which is a 6 hours journey from Haridwar.
