If their marriage was a cake, then their honeymoon was the cherry on the top. Read the account of Ritesh and his wife as they began their marriage by treating themselves with a trip to Manali. The lush-green valleys, the enchanting temples, and warm hearted people made their journey to the mountains all the more special. Ritesh booked their package via Travel Triangle and it cost him INR 15,500 which included their meals, sightseeing, and accommodation.

Ritesh and his wife in Manali

Deciding on where to go on our honeymoon was a quick decision for my wife. She loves the mountains and I wanted to follow suit.

I started looking for Honeymoon packages on the internet for Manali and it was here that I saw an advertisement by TravelTriangle pop-up on my Facebook page – selling lucrative honeymoon packages. I found the idea of customizing your own holiday package as per your budget interesting and decided to give them a try.

After downloading the TravelTriangle mobile app, I posted a request for a Manali honeymoon package and soon enough, I was contacted by a representative from TravelTriangle who understood my requirements.

He linked me to multiple local agents for Manali tour packages and within no time, I started getting competitive quotes from them. I could pick and choose the best deal out of the various quotes received and soon enough I was able to make a decision.

I chose ‘Holiday Triangle’ Travels as my travel agent since they gave me the best quote as per my requirements. All that was left for us to do now was to pack our bags and start traveling to the mountains.

Day 1: Departing from Sonipat

Mist and clouds in Lower Himachal

Our honeymoon trip to Manali began with us boarding a bus from our hometown Sonipat. Although, the bus started from New Delhi, it picked us up en route at 6.30pm. Our comfortable night journey ended with us arriving in Manali at 8 in the morning.

As we arrived at the Manali bus stand, our taxi guy was present to pick us up and take us to the King’s Land Hotel. We checked into the hotel and were received warmly by the staff. Since, our driver had informed us that the tour will begin at noon, we had ample time to rest and have a quick meal.

At noon we began our Manali city tour starting first with a visit to the Hadimba Temple. It was a great experience here and the temple is situated in the timber forest area called Van Vihar. Next up for us were the Vashisht Temple and the Van Vihar area itself. I felt really blessed to have begun a new chapter in my life by visiting such holy places. Also not to forget, both the temples were beautiful and had very calming vibes to them.

Afterwards, we were dropped at the Mall Road to conclude our tour at 5 pm. We decided to explore the market area for a while and then eventually proceeded back to the hotel. Later on, we had dinner at the hotel and stayed in for the night.

Day 3: Solang Valley

View from the top of Ropeway in Solang Valley

This day started off with a sumptuous breakfast post which we got ready for the Solang Valley tour. As scheduled, our cab driver was at the hotel to pick us up at 10.30am.

I requested him to take us to Solang Valley in no hurry. I heard from the locals that the drive from Manali to Solang Valley is scenic, so we thought of taking a slow enjoyable ride stopping at multiple stops and taking pictures. As we arrived at Solang Valley, we took a ropeway cable car up to the mountains.

The view of the valley from the top of the mountain was breathtaking. However, it was very unfortunate that all the adventure sports were closed because of it being off-season. We returned back to Manali at 3pm and proceeded for lunch at Mall Road.

When we returned to the hotel, our room was fully decorated and we were also given a complimentary bottle of wine and cake. This was a very nice gesture and it made our stay in the hotel all the more memorable.

Day 4: Exploring Kullu Valley

Ritesh sightseeing in Naggar

Our day began with a delicious breakfast at the hotel. We were scheduled to visit the Manikaran hot springs and gurudwara in the Kasol valley. But, I requested to our driver to take us to some offbeat places in the Kullu Valley.

He took us to one of the most amazing waterfalls I’ve ever seen. The Jana waterfall lies 25 km from Manali in a small town called Naggar. Afterwards, we proceeded towards the buddhist monastery and then the Naggar Castle. We thanked our driver later on for showing us such beautiful places which were sparsely crowded and unspoilt.

We returned to the hotel after an immensely satisfying day. This night, we had a candlelight dinner in the hotel which was very romantic.

Day 5: Leisure and Departure Day

Visiting the Hadimba Temple

For the final day of our honeymoon trip to Manali, we had a free day for leisure. After having a late breakfast, my wife and I decided to walk the streets of Manali. So, we ended up going to the Mall Road, Hadimba Temple, and Van Vihar again.

We returned to the hotel after having lunch, and got ready for the bus ride back home which started at 4.30pm.

The time we spent in Manali was truly special. I believe after this trip, I have a deeper and a stronger connection with my wife which will make the new phase of our life much easier and enjoyable.

High Points :

  • Upon returning on the 3rd evening to the hotel, I opened the balcony door and saw a lovely rainbow which was welcoming us.
  • Time spent at Jana waterfall was probably the best portion of my vacation.

Low Points :

  • Could not visit Rohtang Pass due to some restrictions.

Tips to Travelers :

  • Try and avoid going to Manali in off season if you wish to do adventure sports like whitewater rafting.
  • For the travellers who love offbeat places, Naggar is a good spot to visit.
