Baldev from TravelTriangle helped me close on the towns I wanted to visit and the activities that we wanted to do. He was very helpful throughout in suggesting ideas and incorporating our changes. Finally, we made up our mind on a five day trip and got ready for what would be a much needed epic adventure that would rid me of my mundane and lethargic city life.
Day 1: Arriving into snowfall in Shimla
After a six-hour train journey, we arrived in Shimla at around 7 pm. The weather cheered us up as we witnessed heavy snowfall after a very long time in our lives. Although, with that heavy snowfall it meant that we faced a lot of difficulties in reaching and finding our hotel.
An hour later, we reached Hotel Rahat Regency somehow and checked in immediately. We were excited to arrive in such a romantic atmosphere in Shimla. However, the unrelenting snow didn’t allow us to go outside for a walk and enjoy our first night in Himachal. So, we just decided to have dinner at the hotel and start with our travels the next day.

The next day, thankfully, the weather was calm. With all the snow settled down and the sun shining, it made the town even more scenic than the day before. Keeping in mind the good weather and eagerness to step outside, my wife and I quickly had breakfast got ready to wander outside.
We hired a taxi and decided to visit Kufri that morning. An hour later, we arrived at this quaint yet lively town. The first thing of course we had to try in Kufri, was horse riding. The place is famous for horses and yaks taking tourists to various areas in and around Kufri. My wife was a little scared at first to trust the horse ride but eventually she felt better (at least that’s I was told).
We visited the snow point in Kufri where we got a stunning view of the entire mountain range where Shimla is located. It almost felt like, a romantic person’s description of a panoramic winter paradise.
Later on, we gorged on delicious street food and bought a few souvenirs from Kufri for our family and friends. A nice suave end to an eventful day.
Day 3: Travel to Manali and an unwelcome guest

The next day, post breakfast, we visited the Mall road in Shimla and the beautiful church along with it. Upon our return, we saw a monkey slide into our room through the bathroom window. He obviously went for the food first, and also tried to mess with our luggage. Definitely not the kind of hospitality we expected in Shimla.
Anyhow, we checked out of the hotel and boarded our bus to Manali. It took us a six hour bus journey going up, over, and around hilly curves, but we finally arrived in Manali and checked into the hotel around 9 pm . Not the way we imagined Valentine’s day would go, but it could’ve been worse.
Day 4: A fun filled day at Solang Valley

This day, we hired a taxi and traveled to Solang Valley for some adventure sports and picturesque sightseeing.
I’d like to think our valentine’s day came a day late because the perfect time we were expecting to have on the 14th, actually happened on the 15th. In the backdrop of the snow-capped mountains and two-feet of snow all around us, the winter charm had taken over us at Solang Valley. We had so much fun playing in the snow and just spending time exploring the place that time just flew by.
Speaking of flying by, I almost forgot how awesome an experience it was doing paragliding in Solang Valley. Initially, I was a bit nervous jumping off a cliff, but the experience will remain with me forever. With that flight, we capped off an incredible day in Himachal.
Day 5: Local sightseeing and train back home

Our final day was upon us. We had a few hours after we checked out from the hotel in Manali so we decided to utilize that by exploring the mall road in Manali and going on a shopping spree.
After quite a bit of shopping, we left Manali around noon via taxi to board our overnight train to Agra.
Day 6: Sightseeing in Agra and an evening to remember
We arrived in Agra the next morning, and hired a taxi to visit Taj Mahal. The eternal monument for love definitely had the romantic vibes for us. It was a perfect moment as we spent the final day of our honeymoon at Taj Mahal. Surely, it couldn’t have gotten any more dramatic and ironic.
It was a long journey home back to Rajkot, but my wife and I had so much to talk about. From intruder monkeys, to heaps of snowfall, to adventure sports and flying like eagles. Our trip to Himachal had so much to remember, that we rarely sat quietly on our way home. I’m so glad and lucky that my wife shares the same enthusiasm of travel as me. We really cherish each other’s company and to start a new phase of our life together with an unforgettable vacation was a blessing.
