Shefali’s weekend trip to Dhanaulti was a culmination of an eventful year that saw her travel all around the globe. Being a travel enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for new experiences and new places to visit. When I saw an ad flashing on facebook of the TravelTriangle New Year Weekend Getaways, I was intrigued to try out one of their offered destinations. After browsing through all the destinations, I thought of visiting the relatively unexplored Dhanaulti.
As I was going through the booking process, a representative from TravelTriangle explained to me how this trip would work. I was traveling in a group of 46 people in which a lot of different groups would combine to go to Dhanaulti. I have traveled a lot around the world over the years, but this was a new experience for me to share my travels by making new friends along the way. I was anxious and excited about what was in store for us.

As requested, all travelers to the weekend trip to Dhanaulti assembled outside Akshardham metro station at 8 pm. There were hundreds of travelers waiting for their buses to depart. It wasn’t hard to figure out that TravelTriangle had arranged a grand farewell to 2016 for its travelers.
We boarded the bus at 9 pm, and started our journey to Dhanaulti. It was a nice beginning by the TravelTriangle representatives Pranav and Ankur, as they broke the ice between all the travelers in the group by encouraging us to sing and play games. The journey got off to a comfortable start as I gelled with other travelers very nicely.

Day 1: Welcome to the chilly hills
The next morning, the bus stopped over at Mussorie for an early morning cup of tea at 5.30 am. We were 25 kms from our camp, and the weather was near freezing. Although, in this cold we managed to get a glimpse of the final sunrise of 2016.
We arrived at our campsite at 7.30 and were allocated our respective tents. Post breakfast, we were given a few hours to rest and unwind in the serene Campo Royale.
Weekend Trip To Dhanaulti: An Incredible New Year In Nature’s Retreat
We were told to assemble at the camp grounds again at noon for the beginning of our adventure activities. At noon, I enjoyed the challenging adventure activities like zip lining, burma bridge, and suspension bridge.
At 4 pm, all of us hiked 2 km to the Dhanaulti Eco Park for some sightseeing. Over there, we got an incredible view of the sun setting down the hills of Mussoorie. We returned to our campsite by 6 pm. After a few hours, I got ready for ending 2016 with a bang! The campsite had arranged for us a bonfire dinner, and a DJ night to welcome 2017.
It was an unforgettable evening spent with travelers I met barely 24 hours ago. As the year was closing, I felt proud of how much I had grown as a person thanks to my travels. I felt glad I took the leap of trying out a group traveler experience with TravelTriangle.

The next morning, as I woke up amidst the greenery all around me, the first morning light of 2017 brought forth a very optimistic start. Post breakfast, we packed our bags and set our way back to New Delhi. Another bus journey that went by smoothly as I got to know my fellow travelers during the spare time.
Dhanaulti is very different from other hill stations in northern India. Even during a busy holiday season, the place is free from the hoards of tourists, the traffic snarls, the obnoxious tourists, and crazy skyrocketing prices. Dhanaulti is a quaint, charming, and rustic hill station that encourages you to just unwind, relax, and just watch time fly by in it’s presence.
High Points:

Low Points:
- Could’ve covered a few more places in and around Dhanaulti like Kanatal.
