The region was once ruled by Chahamanas of Shakambhari, then by Mahmud of Ghazni, then by the Mughals, and then by Marathas. Later it became a part of Jaipur. The village is famous for Chand Baori (stepwell) – one of the oldest, deepest, and largest stepwell in Rajasthan.
