Belonging to an army background, I’ve been to various places across India where each offered something new and unique. In fact, I can say that traveling is in my blood and bone! It holds great value for me as it connects me to different cultures and people in different parts of the world. Moreover, I’m more into budget traveling and backpacking, which opens many horizons and possibilities for me.
I had been craving a short backpacker trip to the hills when my friend TravelTriangle weekend trips. I had first decided to go to Kanatal but the seats were full by the time I sent a request to the TravelTriangle team. So instead, I went to Dhanaulti!

Day 1: Local Sightseeing and Bonfire Night

On Friday night we boarded our AC bus from Majnu ka Tila as directed, and drove away to the lush hills of Dhanaulti. Though I was traveling solo, I made a lot of friends on the way in the bus itself. We reached Dhanaulti early in the morning at 8 AM after a thrilling bus ride over winding routes and through scenic valleys.
Upon reaching our camp resort, we took some rest and went on to explore the Surkanda Devi temple. After a peaceful time at the temple, we explored few more local attractions before returning to our campsite. After having some light snacks and tea, it was time for the bonfire in the evening.
The bonfire night was the most enjoyable moment of my entire trip. We danced and sang around the cackling fire, embracing its warmth. I don’t remember the last time I had had so much fun! When we were exhausted from all the dancing and laughter, we proceeded to fill out tummies with some amazing dinner from the camp’s buffet menu.
Day 2: Adventure Activities and Return to Delhi
In the morning, we treated ourselves with a sumptuous breakfast and went on to explore the Tehri Dam. We spent about 3-4 hours at the dam itself, relaxing and basking in the beautiful views it offered.

Here, we also indulged in some exciting water activities, with boating being the best of them. Later, we had lunch and left for Delhi in the same bus.
I ended up making a lifetime of memories on just a 2-day Dhanaulti weekend trip, and a great many friends on a solo adventure! I thank TravelTriangle for giving me an experience of a lifetime.
