1. Kamal Basti Temple
Kamal Basti, an ancient Belgaum Jain Temple, is surrounded by Chikki Basti ruins within the Belgaum Fort. This temple was constructed in the 10th century during the rule of Ralta dynasty. Bichirja, one of the Ministers of King Kartavirya IV, built the Kamla Basti temple in 1204 AD.
Kamal Basti got its name since it resembles a Lotus with 72 petals. On every petal, there are engraved names of 24 Tirthankaras from each period. The Garbhagriha of Kamal Basti has a stone-carved Sinhasan holding the idol of Lord Neminath. This was found in the forest 200 years ago. Since the 11th century, devotees worshipped Lord Sumatinath, Lord Adinath, and Lord Parsvanatha.

2. Kapileshwar Temple
Kapileshwar Temple, one of Belgaum’s famous temples, is known as Kashi of South. Devotees must visit and seek blessings of Lord Shiva at this temple before visiting India’s 12 Jyotirlingas. According to inscriptions found at Kamal Basti, Kapileshwar Temple opened around 1000 AD. People believe that the Shiva-Lingam self-incarnated. Just like in the Kashi temple of North, devotees are allowed to access the Shiva-Lingam from close proximity.
