The Dutch began building various fortifications in Colombo and the Galle Fort happened to be one of the many fortifications built in 1588. If youre looking for a more budget friendly option, opt for a direct bus from Katunayake Airport Bus Station which will reach you to the Colombo Bastian Mawatha Bus Terminal which is close to Galle Face Green, in an hour and a half (approximately) and costs about INR 56.
