Sunil and his wife were mesmerised by the beauty of the Andaman islands. Read to know how they made the best use of their 5 day stay in Andaman doing scuba diving and visiting the best beaches out there.
My wife and I had been planning our honeymoon since a long time. The location, the resorts, and the place, everything had to be perfect.
Amidst all the confusion, we were sure of two things:
- A resort by the beach, where we could walk in the white sands near shore and look a the millions of stars gazing at us at night.
- Experiencing the undersea world and enjoy activities like scuba diving & snorkelling.
Keeping these things in mind, we decided on Andaman as our honeymoon destination.
Next task was to decide on a package that would cover everything as per our requirements. We started researching on the internet and came across the TravelTriangle, a holiday marketplace that offers customized packages of locations across the world. We posted our query and soon some agents contacted us. After taking our budget of the trip into consideration, we chose the best one from Rsr Tours And Travel.

Best Time To Visit Andaman & Nicobar: October to April
Day 1 : Hello Andaman!
We boarded the flight to Port Blair from Bangalore and reached there by early noon. After we reached, we were received by the hotel representatives who took us to our resort, Hotel Kavitha Regent, Port Blair. On the way we saw the crystal clear waters of Andaman, unlike the sea waters anywhere else. As far as your eyes can see, there is nothing but the blue sea giving a very refreshing view. It was a welcoming sight.
After we checked into our hotel, we freshened up and relaxed in our rooms
We first visited the cellular jail complex, also known as Kala pani, which is one of the oldest prisons in the country. The prison was used by the British to exile political prisoners. While walking around the complex, one is taken to the colonial era when our great countrymen were fighting with blood and sweat for independence.
After that, we visited the beach near our resort. By the time we reached the beach, it was almost evening. The evening view of the sun was beautiful over the horizon. We relaxed there for sometime before proceeding to our hotel for dinner and sleep.
Day 2: A glimpse of the undersea world: scuba diving
We were lucky to witness the Holi celebration in Andaman on our second day. Holi in Andaman is celebrated in a very grand manner with huge pomp and show. We were to visit the Neill island on our day 2. On the way to the dock area we saw folks enjoying the holi celebration with much enthusiasm.
The cruise to Neil Island was a great experience and we loved the ride. After reaching the island, we first checked into our hotel. We did not want to relax as we were quite excited for the island tour. Hence, without wasting time, we left for scuba diving at Laxmanpur beach. It was just amazing, for the lack of a better word.
The boat takes you a km away from the beach in the middle of the sea and your scuba diving starts there. We were initially scared, but the trainers made us comfortable and after sometime we started loving the experience. We came back by the same boat in the afternoon. We wanted to reach the beach by afternoon as it starts getting dark by 530-6 and it is usually advised to stay away from the shores as the tides increase with the setting of the sun. for this reason, the beach gets closed by 3-3:30 pm.
After scuba diving, it was time to explore the beaches of Neil island. We visited the nearby beaches. The beaches of Neil island are beautiful and boast of vast stretches of white sand surrounded by huge trees.
Day 3: In and around Havelock: hopping to the best beaches
Day 3 was reserved for Havelock Island. We had breakfast and left immediately for cruise that would take us to one of the most popular islands of Andaman. After reaching, we first visited the Radhanagar beach, rated as the 7th best beach in the world and the best beach in Asia by the TIME magazine. Trust me, it is indeed one of the best beaches I have ever seen in my life.
We spent some two-three hours there, just relaxing in the sands post which, we left for Kala Pathar beach, yet another beautiful beach worth a visit. The best part of the beaches are obviously the serene blue sea waters followed by the local fruits and vegetables grown in the area. One can buy variety of fruits and vegetables as they are very fresh and are naturally grown in the region.
We also tried seafood at the restaurants near the beaches. For a non-veg lover, Andaman is a sheer delight and boasts of great seafood options. One must try fresh lobsters and prawns at decent prices here. The restaurant owners are very warm and welcoming and make sure you have a good dining experience.

We had a sumptuous breakfast and left for the elephant beach. This beach is quite famous for water sports activities. We did the glass bottom boat ride in which the bottom of the boat is made up of glass with magnifying lenses fitted in the glass, which enables one to see the beautiful corals and fish passing below. It was a wonderful experience. The ride lasted for thirty minutes.
We had lunch at one of the restaurants at Havelock post which, we left for Port Blair. The next day, we had breakfast and checked out of the hotel to take a flight back to Bangalore.
Our amazing trip to Andaman was finally over.
Highlights of the trip:
- The first views of the Andaman island, those white beaches and the turquoise waters, when we were about to land were beautiful and not something we will forget.
- The scuba diving experience was out of the world. It’s a must try activity for all those visiting Andaman.
Low points of the trip:
- The coordinators were late in receiving us, citing that Holi celebrations on the way made them turn up late. They did not take any interest in showing us around the places during sightseeing tour.
Tips for future travelers:
- There are many islands in the Andaman archipelago. One should do proper research and prioritize the places for sightseeing, and things to do before planning their honeymoon trip to Andaman.
To sum up our experience, I would say that our honeymoon trip was absolutely perfect. In terms of the value for money, the places we covered and the activities we did, everything was amazing and well planned.
